Can you dump Dexacool
03, Montana, is it safe to flush out dexacool and just go with the regular antif. coolant and not have any issues. Is it safe to change out?

Yes it is safe to flush it out but if you flush the engine put Prestone Extended Life in the system. Don't use the old type of antifreeze. The EL will work just like the Dex without the problems associated with it. If you use standard you will have isssues that may damage the internals.

Whatever you do , don't mix the old ethylene glycol based green coolant with the newer OAT style coolants such as Dex Cool. Dex Cool and other extended life coolants were specifically designed for your modern engine. Here is a link to an article stating a good reason to stick with extended life coolants such as Dex Cool : http://free-auto-repair-advice.blogs...label/Dex-Cool .Make sure whatever you use meets GM specifications for coolant as there is no such thing as a "universal replacement coolant". The newer style coolants that are used in vehicles that require them have special proprietary protection packages tailored to your engine's makeup. Using something other than recommended can damage your engine.
