Need help with A/C

Okay, so my mechanic says I need a new compressor and I was wondering are they all the same, like will a 92 civic or newer compressor go into my car? Cause I see pleanty of those on ebay but not a lot of 88-91 compressors.

I'm in the same situation - we tried installing one from a Prelude but it did not fit....
