From the "unknown" silver F1's (#006, #010, #033, #050 and #057) only #033 and #050 were produced in 1995, with #033 as the very first and #050 as the very last car of the year.
So, the chances that this car is indeed #033 are quite high!

I'm not sure what the regulations are like in Germany, but here in Australia if a car is manufactured in - for example - September 1994, but not sold until March 1995, the registration shows the car as 1995. Perhaps this could throw this guess off a little.

The other possibility is that this might be #033 AFTER the crash, if it was indeed rebuilt and re-trimmed, retaining the original registration.

Re: Recap of European F1 Fleet (EXCLUDING England)

Well - even though I visit this forum almost every day (though my actual number of posts didn’t say so), the picture of that crashed silver/red F1 is new to me!
If someone from McLaren confirmed that car as #033, I think one can believe in that.
In that case there a quite some possibilities concerning the car which was seen in Monaco May 1995.
As I wrote earlier, the only thing I can say for sure is that this car was registered for the very first time sometimes between Jan. 1st. and June 30th. 1995!
There is also the possibility that this is a 1994 F1 which was registered much later than original purchased...(#006 or #010???)

If someone is wondering why I’m so sure about it, please read following explainations:

1) upper plaque
It shows when a car will have its next technical check.
The colour symbolizes the year and the respective month is imprinted on that plaque.
If a car is registered for the very first time, it receives a plaque for 36 months. That means it has to do its next technical check three years later (+/- one month).
The car which was seen in Monaco has a brown upper plaque. Brown was used for 1998, which means it was registered in 1995!
If a car was already registered somewhere else before and is registered again, it receives a plaque for only 24 months! If the car from Monaco had been registered before, it would have had a plaque for 1997 (yellow)!

2) lower plaque
It shows the seal of the federal state the car is registered in.
Up until the end of June 1995, the seal was finished in only black and white!
Since July 1st. 1995 every new registered car was equiped with the new, bigger coloured seal!

If you take a closer look a the plate of #071, you can see an orange upper plaque. Orange was used for 2001, which means that this car was registered for the very first time 1998! Below it one can see the coloured seal!

Re: Recap of European F1 Fleet (EXCLUDING England)

I just found something very interesting concerning the german F1 which was seen in Monaco 1995!
This scan was posted by Sauc3 a year ago in his scan-thread.

http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?image=feb00ob4.jpg

Just compare the given details with the car seen in Monaco!

http://img265.imageshack.us/my.php?i...nacogpaya5.jpg

From my point of view it matches perfectly!
(Exterior, interior, location, date of delivery ect.)

It would also mean, that this car has nothing to do neiter with the crashed silver/red F1 nor with the car which was destroyed by Pischetsrieder as it is accident free!!!

BUT if it is really #050(?), the last car produced in 1995, what has McLaren done the other 7 months???

Re: Recap of European F1 Fleet (EXCLUDING England)

That's our trouble with the Silver F1's - they all look alike. I am sure someone on here can identify the F1 in the first link. Bear in mind, descriptions of cars for sale have nearly all had some misleading information in there, be it delivery date, quoted BHP figure, engine size (!) etc so as long as the all info is correct in the listing, it appears it could well be #050, but it could also be #037, #038 pre Dan Kennedy refit, #042 or #044.......

Mini Magic was sure that it's #037 per this thread. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=643383

Re: Recap of European F1 Fleet (EXCLUDING England)

After reading some threads here which are also dealing with the various silver F1's, I’m also convinced that the car seen in Monaco May 1995 is #037!

I do believe that the details given in that scaned offer are accurate as german dealers are normally not that talkative when it comes to offer a Supercar. This “advertisement” aims cleary for the US market and is probably from a time when the Euro wasn’t as strong as it is today.
Because the whole Supercar topic is handled more open in the US than in Germany, I think the dealer had to adapt his offer to US demands...

Another convincing fact is the way the plate was mounted on the front bumper. If you look a the pic from that scan, one can notice two small “holes” in the front bumper! The position of these two “holes” matches exactely the position of the two screws which fixed the plate on the front bumper (One in-between the “Ü” and the other between the first and second “2" of 222)!

I also read in an other thread here, that #037 was delivered with a triple-grey combo! This fact also matches one of the given details in that offer.

I don’t want to be overhasty, but I’m pretty sure that the car with FÜ-JJ 222 seen in Monaco May 1995 was #037 shortly after it was delivered to its german customer.

Furthermore one can say now, that the car destroyed by Pischetsrieder was neiter #033 nor the car from Monaco (#037)!

Btw:
If that one really is a 1995 F1, it then could be #050 !?

Hi Bjoern

It can't be #050 in your pics; it has high mirrors and a lovely coloured leather seat, making it one of Ralph Lauren's (IIRC............)

Greg you are right!

I just discovered a thread about the McLarens of Ralph Lauren and the car with the brown drivers seat is indeed #074...!!!

Re: Recap of European F1 Fleet (EXCLUDING England)

As annouced a couple of days ago, here are my facts/thoughts on the Pischetsrieder crash:

Late Sunday afternoon on the 28th. of May 1995 Pischetsrieder crashed with a F1 near Rosenheim in Bavaria, Germany. The car he crashed was originally purchased by Wolfgang Reitzle, at that time head of BMW’s technical department, for demonstration purposes! So one can say, that this car was most likely owned by the factory and not by a private person.
As BMW now owns #047 for the same purpose, one can assume that this crashed F1 was indeed a total write-off! Furthermore it is not unlikely that this car was one of the early F1's (006/010?), as BMW played a major role in the whole McLaren F1 project!
Btw, I think that the plate is a temporary one as the numbers are red to me...
