99 windstar trans replacement

hey everyone

i am hoping that someone on here can help me

i need to get a new trans for my 99 windstar

i was wondering what years of trans will fit

it has the 3.8L

I strongly suggest you don't play around with "possibilities" on this one. Ford says their replacement trannies have all the engineering upgrades. I took out a "P" level trannie, they sold me a "Z" engineering level.

They really don't cost that much ...that is, for what you get ... a replacement that you know will work. I get a slight discount because they see my face often. $1550 + tax exchange.

If you can hold off until there is a tranny rebate in your area, you will do quite well.

If you feel the vans engine has some time left on it than I would go for the Ford unit. After install add a trans cooler. Easy to do and you can get one for around 25 -50 bucks. You may be looking at 2500-3500 for trans and install. Depends on where you live. Any over 3500 go some place else.
