I just decided to try it again from work (has't worked in months!) and after banging on it a couple times and it failing, it's working again!

I printed them on Photo paper (shiny stuff).
http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/ - makes them for you,
http://www.rtbrandon.com/blankplates/ - backings of Number plates.
These are great sites! I've used them MANY times and love the results. You can't build a street car without plates!!

I made this batch for my old MR2 model to experiment with my new method...

I have it so each plate prints .5" x .25", with the resolution shown here.

The "MRTURBO" plate is on it now, only in the rear. I need to scribble some black markings in the red squares for the reg. sticker.

I got some Scotchlite from Home Depot in the form of an address number. I'd love to find a stock of blank Scotchlite. I printed these plates onto plastic transparency (high res at work! ) and experimented with the best way to attach the clear plastic to the Scotchlite. I'll put pics up when I get them, but I tried white glue, clear gloss lacquer and Future, and so far the Future has turned out best. They're all pretty brittle, though, and the plastic likes to peel away from the Scotchlite. I need to find a way to print directly onto the Scotchlite, but the pieces I have are too small....

If i'll ever get around to build the VW Samba bus i'll put this plate on it

Also what do you think about this plate? If i were in the US i'll get a one like that to outrun cops etc and other pepole won't catch if the plate says "SSSSSSSS" or "55555555" or what...

I don't even know what the cops would do if they saw that plate. Makes me wonder why I have never seen one like it in real life.

Here is one that I am thinking about putting on my next ITR if I put all of the decals on it.

I saw two real liscense plates yesterday that caught my eye. They were "ILUBEIT" and "MS BJ". I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
