Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

Thanks!

Hereīs a little update:

I tried to improve the air intakes of the rear brakes by taking some styrene.
And i didnīt like the "snap-on" wheel connection that came with the kit, so i took some M2 screws to make my own. Nuts will be made smaller, like the first in the pic above. They will look nice with some clear red and blue, i think.

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

I took some PE-parts from Scale Production for the seat belt. Actually they were not the right ones for 6-point-belts, but with some work i let them look like it.
Didnīt like the ribbon which came with the parts, so i replaced it with some textile insulating tape, cut in small stripes.

While visiting the "Intermodellbau" in Dortmund, i finally found some very nice M2 nuts. Ok, itīs not perfect compared to special turned parts, but covered with Tamiya clear red and blue, they are acceptable for me.

Completed the front suspension, wheels can be screwed on and off now. Brake cooling worked out well, gave them some cf decal and Tamiya smoke, too.

Front suspension was assembled as the kit instructions told me, but unfortunately the wheels are standing in a very wrong angle now. Havenīt found the right way to change this, yet.

No model without any problems and this one gives you quite a few.
First one is self made. I made a mistake when glueing the parts of the engine hood and so thereīs a big gap at one side now. As the engine detail isnīt worth to be mentioned, i decided to build this one closed.

As if this wasnīt enough, i had to repaint a small area of the engine cover. Now itīs slightly brighter than the rest of the car. No idea how to fix it. Everything is sprayed with TS-49. Does clear paint maybe darken the colour a bit?

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

The car looks great! One of the best Revell of Germany F1 kits that I have ever seen made. The extra parts and decals go a long way!

Two little details looked out of place to me. The Shell logo on the nose doesn't have the white outline like the others. Also, the front tires have positive camber where a little negative camber (tops of the wheels pointing in) would look a little racier plus that much more accurate. Neither of those really greatly takes away from your model though - still an A+ job.

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

Bummer about the wheels/suspension, I'm sure there a way to fix it if you get creative though.

Regarding the paint, I've heard people say they can darken paint a little with clearcoat, however I've never personally had any success with this. It's always a pain to have to repaint certain sections. I can never blend the paint or match the colour quite perfectly.
