WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

I bought this kit for only 5€ in a LHS and it should become a quick fun build. But in the meantime i couldnīt resist to spend some money on accessories as for example some Marlboro Decals from Studio 27, PE-parts for belts and carbon decals. All these parts together are a multiple of the kit cost of course

For an easier paint job i glued the body parts together without the suspension. Engine cover was cut at the correct panel lines - Revell made a very bad job at both.

First paint after a lot of putty, primer and sanding.

Engine and suspension detail is not worth to be mentioned. I tried to improve it a bit.

For lack of golden BMF i took an chocolate-foil and apart from its thickness it did work quite well. Left Twix-foil, right Revell-decal.

This was the first time for me working with carbon-decal. Not that easy but iīm satisfied. Now it will get some Tamiya Smoke and clear coat.

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

Thanks!

No, those are kit tyres. I gave them a light sanding all over and sanded the tread even more. Then i put on the very sharply cut original decals.

Wow,that looks very nice.I love the Twix foil idea.The Marlboro decals add a lot to the model it would look bare without them.It might be a poor kit but you are making a nice model from it.Keep up the good work.

Nice work! Are they heel tubes you're using for the injector stacks?

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

you sure are making a nice job of this bad kit. the twix wrapper is a great idea, I'm going to have to remember that one. plus you get a little snack break while working too.

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

Thank you for your kind replies!

@robrex
Yes, i already did. You can see them fixed at the engine on the 5th pic.

@quadzero
And i will have to remember it is called wrapper and not foil.
Please do not complain to me if you put on too much weight while working on your models

I started some polishing. Hard to photograph, but it looks really nice.

Hm, I built my F1 2000 from Revell without painting (Yes, I know, but I was young ) and I was wondering to buy the Tamiya one, which is unfortunately very expensive.
Your thread shows that the Revell kit tyres are quite good, perhaps I will buy the Revell kit again, but they are quite expensive yet...
Hm, perhaps the Tamiya?

Looks great. Twix wrapper idea is super!

What are these, please?

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

@godfather
I had some trouble with the front hood decal and tried to fix it by hand with a brush. Now it takes some time to cover it with clear paint again.
Furthermore i think i will finish the 612 before the Polizei-Porsche.

@klutz
Robrex called them heel tubes but iīm not sure if this is the correct translation because i canīt find anything called like this via Google.
Just take a look at this and it should be clear, you will get them in every electronic-shop:

Re: WIP: Revell Ferrari F1-2000

WOW. This looks great if it were a Tamiya but the fact that its a Revell makes it all the more impressive. The Twix wrapper is a gr8 idea and one that I will have to incorporate at some point... the BMF gold foil loses its goldness when you rub it.

All the best,
BillyPee
