Car won't start, got fuel and fire
My buddy has an achieva with the 2.3L DOHC quad 4 and the sucker won't start or even kick. I've checked spark, injector pulse, compression, fuel pump pressure, and even the plugs and I'm still at a lost. I've even tried to start it with ether and still doesn't kick. Compression is reading approx cylinder 1: 125, cyl 2: 140, cyl 3: 125, cyl 4: 125 and I'm figuring that's pretty good. Engine off fuel pressure without the regulator inline is 60 psi. As far as the injectors go I believe they are working because the plugs were wet with fuel when I took them out after trying to get it started with and without ether. I've even gone so far as to put a scantool on the car but there are no trouble codes, the only thing I noticed with the scantool is the scanner says that Quad Driver 1, 2, 3, and 4 are "BAD" (note not a trouble code but a data reading like RPM readout) and I also noticed when cranking the dash and scantool both report 0 rpms but I know the crank sensor is working since the spark plugs are firing. Also to note I've tried taking the O2 sensor out to see if maybe the exhaust was plugged up but it really didn't do anything except you can hear some kind of popping, I'm guessing it's just the opening of the exhaust valve.
Anyone have any other ideas because my friend and I are at a lost, just can't see why the car won't run or even make a good attempt at running. |

Re: Car won't start, got fuel and fire
I had the same problem but I found out that it was a anti-theft problem. Take the underside of the sterring column off and unplug the 2 plugs that plug into the electronic ignition switch, this is a black plug and a white plug, this will help to reset the computer. Leave it unplugged for about 30 minutes and then plug it back up and try it again. Also GM has a recall out for ignition problems with a switch that is located on the bottom of the steering column. Hopethis helps.
