Re: So I got another EF...new winter beater/daily driver

Smog? Inspections? We used to have inspections, but they got rid of them(both Arkansas and Oklahoma)....don't know exactly why, but its nice in a way, except for the cars that leave their parts everywhere. Still waiting to see a couple of drunk rednecks driving a truck with no headlights, hanging out the windows with a pair of flashlights. I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

Nice find btw...wish I could come across something like that around here.

LOL primer makes me want to vomit. I really need to get my ass in gear and start working on this car and get a layer of paint on it. I've just been collecting parts so far.

Re: So I got another EF...new winter beater/daily driver

Nice car. I currently just bought a 90 DX 5 speed all stock for a beater, but I'm thinking about doing the same thing you are doing (making it a fun beater). I wish I had a better engine than the stock D15B2 that is in there, but oh well. It is a gas saver. How much money do you feel is too much money for a beater? I am having this problem. I want to add shocks, springs, rims, and re-fix the bad interior parts but I keep telling myself it is just a beater. I've even thought about doing an engine swap (I have never done one before).

Where do you draw the line? I sure and the heck can't find it. My list of items is almost at about $1000 bucks! Almost the price I paid..! I haven't bought anything yet. What do you think about this...

Thanks.

Also I know this might be a weird question, but how old are you? I'm 23. Just seeing what you think and if our priorities are the same...

EDIT: I also have crappy stock sky blue on my 90. I kind of wish I had primer, but after hearing you say otherwise I've thought twice. How will you be painting it yourself? Spray paint or actually using the right tools? Just curious.

Thanks

Well I got the car for 900 bucks and so far i've put about 500 into just suspension parts for it and I had a lot of parts laying around from my integra that I'm using for my big brake conversion. I'll probably put another 500 into it for my bushing kit and SS brake lines and timing belt kit and tires. But once its done I'll still be able to make 800-1000 off it if I decide to sell it.

I'm 23 years old, so same as you. I have a bunch and bill and I live with my aunt and uncle and pay rent here. Priorites do suck and its why I can only spend 100-200 a paycheck on car parts. Its not like I'm poor, i make 16 an hour as a mechanic at the dealership I work for. Just sucks cause I'm a flatrate tech and the shop is starting to get slow.

I wish my hatch was still the stock color. Primer is seriously ugly. As for me painting it I might rattle can it with army paint but im not sure yet, give it i nice rat ride look. But I was also considering taking the time and building a spray booth and getting a gravity feed gun and spraying it for real. Depends on my cash flow by that time, it will be the last thing I do. And if I do it that way it will be painted rio red.

Rio red ftw. If/when I get my hatch painted it will be the stock rio red, I just wouldnt be able to deal with the engine bay being red and the rest of the car another color.
