Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
I finally finished my Porsche Carrera GT. I started this model after seeing Ramon Garcia's awesome build at a contest in Detroit. The model is painted with Cobra Colors Seal Grey Metallic with a PPG Urathane clearcoat. I used Scale Motorsport carbon fiber decals everywhere I could and coated them with future floor wax. The photoetched details are also from Scale Motorsport. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Re: Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
Wha? A Porsche from a Moparbuilder?
All kiddin aside, that really turned out great. The carbon decal work looks like it was a pain, but it turned out perfect! I do miss Cobra Colors though...

Re: Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
Looks great! The engine may have benefited from a wash, and maybe some smoke over the c/f decals to tone down the pattern would be my only comments.

Re: Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
Man really nice work, I'm pretty impressed by the carbon fibre.
How the hell you got the carbon in all these slots and edges? Just applied them with water and than using floor wax? Do u use a brush for that?Greetings Marcus |

Re: Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
Thanks all for the kind words. Yes the carbon fiber decals were a pain but they really add depth to the finished model. I spent almost a week alone on the bottom of the chassis.
924 thanks for answering tatzentier's question. My only addition is that I use a hair dryer on low setting to make the decals snuggle down into crevices and around corners. I'm still afraid to start my Enzo. There is a TON of Carbon Fiber work on that car. James |

Re: Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
it's nice to see a well-built kit that's not loaded with aftermarket crap.

Re: Completed: Porsche Carrera GT
Great Carbon work though the chasis carbon looks a little big 1/20? Looks killer in that gunmetal.

I have some pictures of an Argento Neurbering (sp?) silver with red interior Enzo that is just begging to be built. Nice diecast model. Uhhh, no, thats not a diecast. it's nice to see a well-built kit that's not loaded with aftermarket crap. ![]() There's plenty of aftermarket stuff there. The only difference is it is subtle. I do miss Cobra Colors though... Me too. I have about 60 bottles of his paint to use up though.. he he Thanks all for the kind words and criticisms. I agree the chassis pattern is a little large and I was afraid to shoot smoke over the decals after spending so much time laying them down. Maybe I will try that on the next car. James |
