ripps supercharger install

I am interested in this SDS as well. Anyone have a clue how much a decent shop would charge to install it? I would hate to have to drive it all the way up to NY and spend my time in a hotel until they finished. I'm not sure I could even afford doing that.

-Any idea if installing this would require anything more involved than a torque wrench?
-I already have the racket set and corded/cordless drills.
-Are any special lubricants needed?
-Any gaskets that might be good to replace?
-Would the engine have to be lifted out?
-I assume car stands/jacks would be needed...

I ask because I would consider buying the tools required and doing it myself. I can't find ANY shops in my area (RTP,NC) that specialize in "racing/moding".... just one shop that does vinyl rice stickers and tint ($275 for the cheap film for my spyder )

I'd like to read more about it but the 3G forums are down....still.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

The engine would not have to be lifted out, but it would do you, or your installer, to have a lift available.

If you get a good shop (and there is one in NC, forgot the name though), it should cost around $1K. That is what Ripp charges. you could be charged up to $1400 for it though.

And you would have to do some electrical work installing the Black Box and water/meth injection kit. So you would need a soldering iron and multimeter.

I guess a lift would be out of the question for me to buy for a self-install.
Do you have any links for the australian site or ripps? Any good websites for the 3g would be very helpful! Thanks Johnny and others.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

I have a question, if I already have performance internals with port and polish, do I need to let the supplier of the SDS know so they don't send me shit not compatible with what I am running right now? I would much rather have super than a turbo right now if I can have one that will not mess up what I have done already

Yes, you need to let Ripp know what is done to your motor. With aftermarket internals, you could step right up to the Stage II kit.

For those asking, the kit is relatively easy to install. You better have a manual for the car along with basic knowledge of working on your car. If you don't feel comfortable doing the routine maintenance on your car, don't even think about installing the kit. There is a huge difference on just installing this kit and installing it correctly.

I installed the kit myself and have had zero problems. The kit has been outstanding.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

Does the RIPP Stage 1 supercharger kit for the Eclipse GT V6 require and modifications to the exaust or header, or cant that run stock as well? If not would it be a good idea to buy the Header from RIPP as well.

Thanks

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

Yeah Im looking to buy the RIPP Header as well and I'm leaning my way towards INJEN exaust system because I currently have an intake from them in my car and I really like the product. I just dont want ti sounding like a damn civic lol.. one of those lil stupid exaust tips that people put on there car to make that dumb noice I wanna hear the motor not the muffler.
