Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

It is a pretty solid kit. But when you get it, be sure to keep tabs on your EGT's and get your car dyno'ed with Air/Fuel ratio's. The kit is designed to run on stock internals all day everyday. Maintenance wise, not alot more than you normally do. Be sure to keep close tabs on the SDS belt, if any wear shows, be sure to replace the belt as soon as possible. And do not skimp out on the cheap oil either. I suggest either Redline or Royal Purple.

Exhaust Gas Temperature. The higher the EGT, the more lean you are running, depending on how lean you are, damage is not far away.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

The cool part about the supercharger is that it doesnt make that spool up swishhh sound. The charger makes a kinda winey-wistle sound its hard to describe, but the first time you here it youll love it. I've never heard them on an eclipse, but I've heard them on Camaros and such. The sound is definatly cool though.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

Stage 1 comes with an optional water/methanol injection kit, which is their version of the intercooler. It does work and as been dyno tested to decrease intake temps and increase horsepower.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

I believe that Redline and Royal Purple are better than Mobil1. Mobil1 is a great oil, don't get me wrong, but Redline and Royal Purple are used most heavily in the racing industry. I did not post up Redline's racing oils or additives, but 5 out of my 8 price sheets are for racing oils from 5W to 70W.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

Oh man I just read up on the RIPP SDS! I want one bad! My question: Is the install somthing I can do or should I have someone do it for me, and do any of you know anyone that has one that I can talk to? I can do some work, I've worked on headers and other easy stuff, but this is kinda scarry. Granted it will be a while before I have the cash to do this, but I want to do it bad.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

It is a bit more difficult than installing headers. If you are not familiar with vehcles electrical systems, then don't even think about it. Depending on where you live, I would suggest that you go to RippMods in Long Island NY for the install. Other than that, there are variouos shops around the country which do installs.

How the hell is it difficult to install o_O? Electrical systems? what you gotta tap into the ECU or some crap and does that supercharger come with diff fuel injectors? Any turbo kit/supercharger kit is simple to install with instructions dont wasste like $500 going to get someone else to install it. Pick up a service manual get a Cordless Drill where you can yah know put a drill bit on it screws etc. get a Socket and ratchet set a toorque wrench and your good to go. If you got any questions ask someone on this board.

Re: Eclipse GT supercharger (ripp..)

I didn't say it was difficult, just more difficult than headers. You DO have to tap into the ECU, as their black box piggy back runs the SDS. Also, you would have to wire up the water/meth injection kit, install larger/secondary injectors.
