Engine rotates but will not start
I have a 1991 Nissan Sentra with 151k on it. 1.6 liter engine with 4 cylinders. A little over 2 years ago, my clutch cable broke in 2nd gear. I was only 5 blocks from home. I kept the car in 2nd gear, pulled into my driveway and parked. I have another vehicle, so I wasn't in a rush to fix the car. It sat there for over 2 years without being touched. I have now decided to fix the car up for my niece. I put a new battery in it. When I tried to start the car, the engine rotates, but will not start. Because the car ran great before the clutch cable broke, I am leaning towards the weather being the cause of this problem (I live in Pennsylvania). What component(s) would the the weather have this kind of effect on? Please help. Thanks so much! George

Re: Engine rotates but will not start
Um, got spark? will it start with carb cleaner sprayed into the intake, these are basic diagnostic first steps.

Re: Engine rotates but will not start
The gasoline in your tank is probably complete sludge. I would say a comprehensive fuel system rebuild is in order. Test the fuel pump, replace the filter, and pull the fuel line and drain the tank. Refill with fresh gas and try again.
