Re: spankin' new WRX STi vs. '99 Trans Am

Going to be a driver's race. Those sti's are awfully quick off the line and they hook up really good, but the awd sucks at high speeds. Good launch with the t/a and no missed shifts, t/a should take it.

Re: spankin' new WRX STi vs. '99 Trans Am

Well from stats stock vs stock, the Trans Am in a 1/4 is suppose to run 13.4 and the STI runs 13.2. With your mods you probably a little faster than him. He well be out in front at first due to awd. But get off the line good and don't mess up shifts and you'll pull him down with no problem. Also with turbo run the car on a hot day, turbo's run better in cold so, hot days are always best to run a turbo.

Re: spankin' new WRX STi vs. '99 Trans Am

yeah it doesnt even have 1000 miles on it yet.

My car's an automatic, so it's kind of hard to misshift...

But keep in mind my car has just over 108000 miles on it now.

Re: spankin' new WRX STi vs. '99 Trans Am

if he races you now he'll probably blow the engine since its not broken in yet (seen it happen already on another sti). most likely he'll get a good jump on you but you'll run him down.

Re: spankin' new WRX STi vs. '99 Trans Am

About the chip... I'm not really sure.
I'm pretty sure it has a chip or at least a reprogram. The cats were removed when I bought it, so isnt some some sort of computer work necessary to ignore the O2 sensors and get rid of the check engine light? My car also seems to shift harder, faster, and closer to the redline than other T/A's (still has a rev/top speed limiter)

Re: spankin' new WRX STi vs. '99 Trans Am

Okay.
It was reprogrammed via HPTuners, EFILive, or LS1Edit.
No chip for the LS1 cars.

The rear O2 codes are most likely turned off. Front O2's still work. They are actually quite important. Computer uses them and other sensors to determine how much fuel to give the motor.

I say STI got this unfortunately. They leave the line good and they pull pretty good. Try to go from roll maybe?
