Re: Where do you build?

Time for me to show where I do my building, just started this up agian recently. So I'm not so well organisted.
Just an old workbench where I do all the cluing and brush painting etc.

Photo:

I hope to get it more organisted in time.

When I started I just used spray canes, this was done in this box, on my porch. I live on the 3th floor.

Then I got an airbrush and upgraded to this home made box, with no fans or anything. I had plans for it but never got on to it.

It is made of spoon plates ( I think thats what it is called)

But I soon found out I needed something better, beside the winter and the cold is coming up, I need to go inside to my hobby room / home office.
So I started the search for something to use, I soon got on to the idea about using a kitchen ventilator, this one normal also got light in it. I asked some around and dad said that I could take the one in their secon kitchen. Since it was old and never being used, no they dont live in a big big house, just that they have a second floor where mygrand parents used to live. Anyway.

So i did build a box for it and made it ready for indoor use.

The box with hole for the flap where I gone put on a long tube, going out my window.

The ventilator:

Done:

I also added two screws on the side to hang my AB on.

Next is to build a bench to put it on, with a shelf or two to put my spray cans and etc on.

I hope you like it and dont find it to boring to have a look into my modeling world.

I would love to see more of how you do it.

EDIT: I did some resizeing

Re: Where do you build?

This is where I build my models. It's not perfect, infact it is a little cramped as there is a wall directly behind my seat. But everything is to hand. The spraybooth was a recent addition and probably the best thing I ever bought. The work area is so much more pleasant whilst spraying with it in use.

Re: Where do you build?

before a year ago all I had as a bench was me sitting on the floor...then I had a small desk in me and my wife's bedroom in a small apartment for a long time, it worked well but just wasn't the best...well I recently moved into a house and I got my own whole room(but it will become our next childs room, if we have a son then its all set!..then i'll build a room down in the basement) with a much bigger and more useful desk..

and i've got some shelves for displaying all the stuff i've had to let sit in boxes for the last 6 years...

alot of it will be replaced with built models one day...

Re: Where do you build?

I think I've been waiting for my workbench to be clean enough to show off since this thread started - or at least since it last showed up

My dreams come true! I share the room with the computer. So it's office/work space.

Where the building happens.

Where the painting happens.

Where my WIPs wait to get worked on. They all try to curry favor from me from up there, looking over my shoulder saying "Will, Will, please work on me!"

It feels so good to be back to building!

That paint booth looks great. What are you using for the exhaust fan? Bath exhaust fan?

That's a great start and looks cozy! Now, when you have about 5 to 6 builds laying around and paint and parts all over I want to see a picture! LOL

Re: Where do you build?

I guess I'll share what I have.

Here's my table & shelves. Just moved it into this corner & put the shelves up a few weeks ago, and I love it so much better than where it was before. It used to be in front of the window thats beside the desk now. I was constantly loosing stuff off the backside of the table. Not a problem anymore. And I love the storage space above. I have a 36" double bulb fluorescent fixture for light. Also have a round bulb fluorescent magnifying lamp that I can use, if I need some magnification.

My paint booth

And then these are the builds that I completed in 2007. Got 12 Nascar models built in 2007. 2007 was when I really started getting organized and hardcore back into my modeling.

And last but not least, my stash.
