as for the Cougar...theres a reason nobody bought one... unattractive, underpowered, and just not alot of effort put into it, or anything in Mercury at that time...

I think the Scion is taking the place of the GT-S but theres more to it than that. the Tc is showing Toyota's movement away from the inexpensive, very fast tuner car segment (MR2 is leaving as well) and into a sort of fake-sporty, practical cars...

That being my opinion I would gladly take the Celicaover a Tc, but that doesnt make the Tc something to mock

The Celica GTS is a bad azz car, but honestly, I own a Scion tC, and you'd be suprised, I spent $509 on an OBX exhaust, AEM intake, and HPR header, and my friend Gus has a 2003 GTS and no matter the conditions I take him everytime. Now his car is stock, that must be realized, but still, you can spend $18000 on a GTS, or 15,000 on the Scion, add a couple mods, and that 2.4 will smoke a lot more than you think. Honestly I would like to have an old Rwd Celica.

Its definitely not the driving, he smoked me in my own car on the way to MIR last weekend. Let me rephrase that, nobody smoked anybody, my Scion wins by like half a car sometimes by a bumper, not some crazy amount, I am just stating the fact that no matter the circumstance, it stays ahead. Off the line the Celica jumps about 3/4's of a car then at about 35-40 mph, the VVTI in that 2.4 definitely takes over the 1.8.

By the way, the Celica is better in most categories, the suspension is way better, looks, the ride hold and height, the ratios of the gears, I am not bad mouthing it by far, I am just stating my expirence. No mean to offend anybody

even though this thread is very old i will say this.

not only does the celica have 20 more horsepower but it also weighs a whopping 500lbs less. even with those mods you had youd be getting 20 extras horses tops. so your power is even but he still weighs 500lbs less. its the driving, the celica is alot harder to drive than the tc.
