the GTS is the fastest and the tC will probably be the most reliable. The cougar will have the cheapest insurance and the GTS will have the highest.

I'd pick the tC...the GT-S is ugly and the Cougar does nothing to inspire...

As tempted as I'd be by the GT-S's performance, it's a real pain in the ass to drive daily. I'd have to go with the tC. The Cougar may be cheap, but it's too slow, too heavy, and too unreliable.

Re: Scion tC vs. Celica GT-S vs. 03 couger

duno much about the cougar, the the tc vs the gts isn't a fair comparison, the tc can't hang with cars like the gts, its just like throwing the rsx type s, ser spec v, n the rest of the better sport compacts/coupes in there

i think the tc is more of a sporty/luxury coupe, and the gts is a straight out sporty coupe

i wouldnt even consider the cougar...the gts is nice and it has the edge in performance over the tc, but the tc is significantly cheaper, has more standard options, and is no slouch in performance either...tc is a great buy for the money...but if u want pure performance get the gts

TRD is releasing the Supercharger this fall. A Supercharged tC has the same if not better performance than the GT-S, it has 4 COMFORTABLE seats, and many many standard features. tC wins this one hands down.

TheQuietThings: But it still won't handle or brake as well as the GT-S, the shifter still won't be as sporty, and the steering still won't be as communicative. The GT-S may be expensive and uncomfortable, but it's for a good reason: the car really hauls ass through curvy sections, something that the relaxed and Lexus-like tC can't do all that well.

i know, and you're right, im really just for straight line performance, and here in NYC, everyone has an automatic, so i didnt even consider the shifter lol.

Yes, I'll give straight-line performance to the tC. It's seven grand cheaper (three with the supercharger) and it out-powers and out-torques the GT-S soundly. If you're just looking for a stylish and comfortable car with enough balls to whip the local ricers, the tC is a great choice.

I live where all roads and hilly, curvy, and really fun. I would take the celica if you lived where nice twisty roads are. The tC is still pretty cool, but like others said, the celica handles much better, and feels much more...Race car like. The tC is like a cheap lexus( Nothing wrong with that! )

the tC isnt replacing anything, its part of Scion, and the tC is not crap. Please be more careful with what you say. Thank You.

the scion brand is a youth oriented value brand

the tc is "supposedly" replacing the celica as the sporty coupe for the company

Yes, the tC is essentially replacing the Celica as the company's sport coupe. That's not to say that the tC and Celica are similar cars, but they fill the same role.
