need keyless help with trunk. 98 xl

I bought my 98 avalon xl used and it came with two sets of keys and two keyless remotes. They have two buttons on them and the top one has little grips in it and it's the locking/unlocking button. The bottom one as far as I can tell does nothing. It's not panic.. and I have a feeling it should pop the trunk, which I would love it to do.
If anyone has a similar issue or maybe knows just how to reprogram the remotes that might work too.

Hi, I have Avalon 99. Recently got a new keyless remote from e-bay.Could you please help me with a programming of this unit? Looks like programming is same as 98. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

kimx, which one did you buy? And how did you know which one to buy? I have a 99 xls
