Re: GTA cars (56k look out!)
o yeah, excuse the crappy textures. 64MB Nvidia GeForce G2TI at fault. The game isnt even supposed to run on less than 128MB Geforce4, but ive played with the software and clocked the GPU up to 325 MHZ and the video ram up to 465. However It didnt help the texture quality...

Re: GTA cars (56k look out!)
I know the vette looks crappy with the spoiler. I was just showing that the cars can usually still use transfender mods. Its not hard to make these cars. I might make a few once i get more familiar with the vehicle modeler (<sp?) You can get a modeler and put your very own vehicle straight into the game, down to the cup holder you added..
Quote:
Firstly, if you have version 1.0 you can start modding right away. If you have version 2.0 you will have to download a patch that reverts it back to version 1.0 called "gtasapatch.exe". You probably dont have to worry about that because you have been playing multiplayer, wich means you probably downloaded a mod in order to do that. That mod totally locks up version 2.0 from what i gather, however its something to check on before you start editing. okay here we go, i will explain it best and as brief as i can. Almost every vehicle has two files inside the "san andreas\models\gta3.img" file. Some have more if they have custom paint jobs or other shit going on. But normally each car has two files. You have to download a tool that can open and modify the ".img" file. This tool is called a image file editor. You can google "san andreas tools" and find several sites for this. Find a version that works with san andreas. Once you download each car it will come as a ".zip or .rar" file. Inside the download file is a ".dff and .txd file. This is to replace the files for the car inside your ".img" file. For example the vehicle in the game called "cheetah", has a "cheetah.dff" and "cheetah.txd" file inside the "gta3.img" file. You have to go into the image file using the tool, and replace the two files with the files found in each download. Each download doesnt add a vehicle to the game, it replaces them. You can find a different skin for almost any vehicle in the game. It depends on what your wanting to replace, and what vehicle each download is meant to replace. The download usually comes with a preview pic. Thats just a .jpg or .bmp file wich shows what the car downloaded looks like. The download will come with a note inside on how to set it up and what vehicle is to be replaced. it will explain what to replace in what file. Thats all the simple part. These files you will become familiar with if you start modding out your game. Remember to open these next files with notepad, or wordpad. Nothing else. Keep in mind that each vehicle has its own line inside of the following files. When replacing them just copy the the entire line, and replace it with the ones provided in the note with each car you download. "vehicle.ide file." This is important information to the vehicle like wheel size ect. Every vehicle downloaded will tell you what to replace each vehicles line with a different one. Each vehicle is first represented by a different number in this file. For example the cheetah is number 415 on the list. Open it and you will see what i mean. "carcols.dat" This holds the information about each vehicles color. You can make each car have whatever color you like. If you open it you will again see whats going on. Most cars downloaded come with different colors than the car came with original. sometimes this file requires modification for the new car to look right. "handling.cfg" contains information about how the car handles. Open it and you will see whats up with that too. By reading the notes at the top of this file you will find you can change the top speed, accel, weight, and LOTS of other things. Remember not to pay attention to the "max data". You can make the cars weigh 25000 pounds and have a top speed of 500 MPH, but it wouldnt be very realistic. The cars seem to be in no particular order in this file. "carmods.dat" is a list of all the cars and the mods that can be added to the cars in transfender and other mod shops. Almost all of the downloaded cars will require a change of this file. Again each car is represented by its own line. The are in alphabetical order in this file. These are the most common files you have to do work in to change a car in the game. When you play it online, the people on the other end dont see the new car, unless they have also added it to their game as well. Or if they have modded the game too wth something, you could be driving around in a pinto from their perspective. I dont know i havent ever played it online so i dont know if you both start on opposite sides of town with nothing and proceed blowing each other to shit, or what so> fun files: weapon.dat - mods each weapon in every aspect. Most importantly the damage of each one. pedstats.dat - mods the game pedestrians. |
