Olivier thank you for pointing this out, I think Tamiya tape is a litle thin maybe I used a piece of plasc strik for replacing the belt.

Re: 1/8 `32 Ford Rat rod

Done some things today on the Rat.

First improve the tyres, they where made of a soft rubber and when they are on the rim its doint looks right

I buy some isolation for pipes and cut then to two halves.

After that I pressed the the isolation stuf into the tyre, just a innertube.

Looks like a donut

And back on the rim for a good fit, now I waith a few days for setting the isolation in the tyre and then I go to wheather the tyres.

I made a new Belt from Evergreen strip in a V shape, thanks for the extra work Zit Zit , but its going to look much better when done.

Also done some work on the interiour such as the seats and dashboard

At last I have painted a image of my girlfriend on the grill.

Still a few things to do before this one is ready to roll.

Ron

Rediculous! Awesome! I love the weathering, it actually looks the business. That's something that's usually very hard to get right, and you got it right on. The details are great as well; this is going to be one hot ride.

I think the seat covers are a great idea, really adds some colour and life in contrast to all the weathering and rust. I like the skull and crossbones too. Fits in perfect with this. ( I hope your g/f doenst read AF!)

Re: 1/8 `32 Ford Rat rod

Hello,

The Rat is ready after a long periode off painting (3 months)

I will give you some info what its done on this car.

First all th epaint that I have used are Acryl paints from Tamiya (mostly the base colors) Vallojo, Andrea for aging and dirt.

The dirt and aging is done with filters, filters are havy dilluted waterpaints ( in my case, its works also with other paints such as Humbroll) with mix ratio of 90 percent (somethimes more) water to paint.
You aply the filters where you want dust of oil, this is a time consumimg work, if you start you doint see anything after three or four layers you some effect and then you can decide to put more filters for the effect that you have in mind.

After each two or three layers lets it dry for a day and work then further.

Sounds easy and its easy to do but you need a lot patiend.

If you have more questions please ask and will try to explain it to you.

Ron

Re: 1/8 `32 Ford Rat rod

Hi Ron!

Congratulations for the work done on the fan belt

Thanks for sharing your "filter" technique. Did you use the same for the engine block (it looks so realistic!)?

By the way, I bought a Revell 1/8 Corvette Stingray (Not so interested by US cars, but, your build made me want to build one!)

Does anybody knows if transkits exist for the engine/bonnet/wheels?

Ron, did you use aftermarket parts for your rod?

Still checking for news!

Bye!

Olivier
