Re: New Civic Suspension Noise
i would find a road where it makes the noise without fail everytime you drive down it...that way u can take the tech with you and show him the sound...after he has heard it and looked into it if they say they still cant fix it just mention the lemon law....you would be surprised at how motivated a dealership will get to fix something versus replacing the whole car

Re: New Civic Suspension Noise
Honda has a bad batch of motor mounts. It's supposedly whats making the noise. I've have mines replaced and the noise just comes back after awhile. I'm taking it in again, hopefully they fix it this time.

Re: New Civic Suspension Noise
You're not comparing your '97 Accord with the subject '06 civic, are you?

Re: New Civic Suspension Noise
John,
I had an '06 civic come in today with a ratcheting-type noise. She said it acts up worse when the car has been driven for a while. We were able to make the noise happen with the vehicle stationary, or moving slowly, and turning the wheel side to side. Does this sound like the same thing? If so, we traced it to the top of the strut assembly and we've ordered an entire new assembly for her. |

Re: New Civic Suspension Noise
Early model 7th gen had this issue I think regarding the upper strut bearings.

Re: New Civic Suspension Noise
My 01 Civic had a similar problem from day 1. When I turn my steering wheel from once side to the other, I hear a little popping noise. I brought up the issue the the dealer and they said it might just be a "noise". And said if the symtom gets worsened, then they will cover it even if the car goes beyond the warranty period. 5 years and 65000 miles later, the noise is still there when the wheels are turned completely, but hasn't gotten worse. It maybe just that. A noise.
Suggest to your dealer that they should cover the repair if it gets worse, and even if it goes beyond the warranty period. Get it in writing. That's what my dealer did for me. |

Sorry guys, i haven't been around the boards for awhile, but here's an update. I got the noise fixed, it was a bad motor mount. I had it replaced twice actually. the first time, they put in another bad motor mount, the sound went away, then came back a week later. The second time, they replaced it with (i guess) a new motor mount, and it's been nearly 1000 miles since, the sound is completely gone! Take them over uneven roads, train tracks, just the worst roads you can find. Check out this thread also, oh 8thcivic.com http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/showt...front+clunking Many people are frustrated with this issue, some have gotten it fixed, others have had no luck. I got mines fixed, your dealer needs to be able to actuall "try" and fix the problem. I've gone to many dealers and most of their service departments are pure shit. Anyways, good luck! pm me if anything |
