how much horsepower can u gain from a catback exhaust, header, and cold air intake, on an 01 accord ex sedan? And how much does each component yield in horsepower gains? Other than the 3 listed what are other good means of gaining horsepower?

Re: horsepower gains
They work in conjunction with each other, can't give you any meaningful idea of individually, because they might improve it or they actually lower response and low to mid power, as with putting larger cat back exhaust without proper intake mods will do...
The three together will probably get you in the neighborhood of 10-15 hp additional would be my best guess.... Powertrain controller is always nice...you got VTEC? |

Re: horsepower gains
I agree with Jeff. You are looking at 10-15hp gained max at the wheels with those mods.

Re: horsepower gains
Man its been a while since ive been on here, and jeff is right. The only reason you see those nicely inflated HP/TQ numbers in adds is because the company takes there sweet precious time using multiple dyno sessions to gain every last .01 that they can to say they got 2.3hp over there competitor. Look at dyno graphs peak HP may be great if you drive your car all the way up to redline every shift, cause while getting 10hp up top might sound great you could be loosing that much for a nice segment of the rpm range when it truly needed. Look at dyno charts where the mid range is where the gains are, also look for how lon the range is, ive seen charts where the thing makes 10hp more for 500rpm then it loses more than stock for the next 1500rpm.

Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. Cardomain |

Re: horsepower gains
a) 3.5 inch is obnoxiously large and overkill. I have a twin turbo car pushing 400hp and I only have 2.75.
b) again realize intake and exhaust mods wont net you very much on a practically stock car c) it would really depend on how much nitrous you are throwing at it. And for the sake of your car, I really hope it isn't too much. I seriously suggest reading alot of threads on modifying these cars/motors, before tossing lots of cash on parts that you may or may not want/need and that potentially could destroy your motor, if you don't know what you are doing.; Research, then buy.
