Thanks for the feedback! I have never heard of a VIN "K" 1995! In fact, it is not even listed in the dealer parts manual! I was hoping that there was one on the road, after all this positive feedback that there may be such an animal!

Re: supercharger

The proof is in the pudding on the original poster's engine. The VIN ID is what counts in order to give proper advice.

I'm trying to be neutral in this this matter. But you never know Bo. Never say never. From annecdotal information I'm hearing otherwise. GM has done weird things and just because dealer's parts manuals to include AC Delco doesn't mean certain 1995 LeSabres did not have the SII 3800 Vin "K". You'd have to look at the factory production records. Also, I've seen annotations from aftermarket parts suppliers too making an inference. Here is one example from Ken-Co on aftermarket UIM plenum kits.

http://ken-co.com/manifold/default.htm

My brother is a GM SM and he claims he has seen and serviced 1995 LeSabres with a Series II 3800.

However, I'm from Missouri. Seeing would be believing. The saga continues.

Re: supercharger

At this point, all we have is speculation and hearsay that a VIN “K” 1995 was ever made! I guess now, we must ask if anyone out there has a VIN "K" 1995 Buick LeSabre with a complete VIN #? If we have the VIN #, it could be verified! I would not put much faith in aftermarket supplier fitment details. Your right Bob, “the proof is in the pudding”.

Hey I am the one from Missouri.....lol. A pic of the engine compartment and VIN number would convince me. All I've ever seen in real life are VIN "L" for 1995. That include a 95 LeSabre I rented back in 1995 at Disneyworld (Orlando, FL).

BTW - What happened to our lawyer friend?

How do I know it had a SII? Before I knew anything about the 3800, I remember looking at the plastic piece under my hood and it said 3800 Series II on it. That memory stuck with me.

Edit Update:

Why does this GM TSB on the UIM plenum problem address 1995 - 1998 Buick LeSabre?

File In Section: 06 - Engine/Propulsion System

Engine Coolant Consumption or Coolant Leak

(Inspect For Material Degradation/Replace Intake Manifolds)

Models:

1995-1997 Buick Riviera
1995-1998 Buick LeSabre, Park Avenue
1996-1998 Buick Regal
1998 Chevrolet Lumina, Monte Carlo

with 3.8L Engine (VIN K - RPO L36)

This bulletin is being revised to correct parts and labor operation usage. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-06-01-007 (Section 6 - Engine/Propulsion System).

Condition

Some owners may comment on excessive engine coolant consumption, or an engine coolant leak near or under the throttle body area of the upper intake manifold.

Cause

Upper intake manifold composite material may degrade around the EGR stove pipe and could result in an internal or external coolant leak.

Correction

1. Follow the upper intake manifold removal instructions found in the Engine Unit Repair Section of the Service Information Manual.

2. Refer to the arrow in the illustration of the upper intake manifold above. Inspect the inner diameter of the EGR passage for signs of material degradation. Degradation will appear as "pitting" of the composite material in the EGR port passage.

3. If degradation of upper intake manifold composite material is found, replace the lower and upper intake manifolds with the following part numbers:

^Lower Intake - 24508923

^Upper Intake - 17113136 (includes necessary upper intake plenum gaskets)

^Lower Intake Gasket - 12537197

4. Follow the lower and upper intake manifold installation instructions found in the Engine Unit Repair Section of the appropriate Service Manual.

5. If degradation is not apparent, skip to Step 7.

6. Verify the repair.

7. If no degradation is found, evaluate the vehicle for other causes of excessive coolant consumption as noted in the Engine Diagnosis Section of the appropriate Service Manual.

Parts Information

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

Re: supercharger

I am not being devious here, in fact; I would enjoy nothing more than to be able to uncover the existence of a 1995 VIN “K” LeSabre! If I could find one for sale, I would have to buy it, because it would be a classic in the making. I just did a search for all the 1995 LeSabre’s for sale in the in the nation @ AutoTrader.com & found 178 matches. Unfortunately, there were none listed with a VIN “K”. I realize this was a small sampling of the production run, therefore, I will continue to search for this rare commodity. Again, if anyone has one, or can find one for us, please post your findings here with pics and a VIN number. Come on guys, there has to be at least one VIN “K” out there, out of the 165,315 LeSabre’s produced in 1995!

1995 Buick LeSabre Model Year

Production run: Oct. 1994 through Sept. 1995
Total number produced: 165,315
Total no. sold in U.S.: 142,624
