Arrow supercharger

i have a 1995 lesabre custome. i was wondering how hard it would to buy a used supercharger and put it on my car. how much a used one might cost, and what additional parts i may need. how much more horsepower might this give me? anyone know about this?

Re: supercharger

If the motor is NA, then a SC is NOT a simple bolt-on part.

Re: supercharger

We'll i once owned a 90 buick lesaber and it had a 3.8L supercharged and it was pretty quick and fun to drive =). So really i would need to know what engine you currently have in your car now? And if it isn't the 3.8L you will have to get a better trans just to hold the power from the sc , so if you could let me know alittle more information and i can find you alot more about your question.

Hopfully this helps .

My guess would be...

camshaft, intake manifold, engine wiring harness, ecm and or prom, drive pulley arrangement, engine sensors, air intake/filter setup, all kinds of vacuum hoses, fuel lines, etc.

Quite a lot in my opinion. Yes, they can be relatively fast for the size/weight of the car, but I think in the end you are better to just find a different car for performance unless you are into the sleeper sort of thing.

Re: supercharger

Yeah i will agree with u Whoaru99 it really comes down to two basic factors . (A) Do you really want to spend that kinda money (B) Do you really think it's worth it? I mean if u have the money and the equipment yes it can b done but it aint easy. I would go ahed and * this is just me * but i would go ahead and find a nice car like even a camaro or a stang or tunner? Whatever your prefference is and just go ahead and make that quick atleast in the long run it will be worth sumthing .

Just my two cents hopfully it helps .

Good Luck

And, if you could keep me updated .

The engine is the 3.8 SII.

That is a strange combination, a 1995 LeSabre with a S11 engine! The LeSabre did not come from the factory with that engine until 1996. Has the car already had a complete engine swap?

Re: supercharger

I like trivia issues. Actually GM introduced the Series II 3800 Vin "K" in 1995 but I'm not sure it made it into '95 LeSabre models but you never know. '96 and up for sure.

Easy enough to tell by looking at the 8th digit of the VIN:

Vin "L" = 3.8L SI
Vin "K" = 3800 SII

Re: supercharger

Actually, the Park Avenue came with the S11 engine in 1995, but it was not available in the LeSabre until 96. no Vin K, 95 LeSabre's ever made to sell

I'll buy that explanation Bo. Oh, don't forget the '95 Riviera.

I bought a 95 LeSabre used in 96 (for $16,400) and it had a 3800 SII and I'm certain it was factory installed (I got it with 23,000 miles on it). Side note: I sold it in 1998 for $11,000 to go to law school (which hasn't helped me one bit).

How do I know it had a SII? Before I knew anything about the 3800, I remember looking at the plastic piece under my hood and it said 3800 Series II on it. That memory stuck with me.

I wouldn't doubt that on the final '95 production run on the LeSabre later in 1995 GM switched over to the SII 3800, Vin "K". 1995 was the weird transitional year for GM. Other than what appears to be a few exceptions the majority of the '95 models do have the Vin "L" 3800 with the plastic cover with the coutout that shows the channels on the UIM. The plastic cover was marked "3800 Tuned Port Injection".

But if true that would explain the fully odb-ii compliant versions of the '95 LeSabre that are floating around.

Here is a pic from a '96 LeSabre engine compartment:

Re: supercharger

I dont have one of those engine covers. but i am pertty sure it is a SII. My car was bought used a year ago with 95K, i'm cant tell if its had an engine swap, but the carfax report said it had only 2 previous owners with a rearend wreck. I raced a 05 SII , and tied all the way down the road, but my tires were balled and way out of alignment. Im going to race again to see if an alignment makes a diffrence.

Check the 8th digit of your Vehicle Identification Number "VIN".

If you see a "K" then it is a Series II 3800.
