Plugs & Wires - Aurora

Our 98 Aurora needs plugs and wires replaced. I would like to do this myself since mechanics want over $400.00.

Can anyone tell me if this is a relatively easy job, or is it like everything else on an Aurora...labor intensive.

Also, do you have to use AC Delco plugs and wires or can Autolite or Bosch be used?

Help is appreciated. Thanks

Re: Plugs & Wires - Aurora

Fear not - if you have ever done plugs and wires before, the Aurora is no different and no more complicated. Most find it easier to remove the coil assembly and after that it's smooth sailin'

OEM plug I would suggest and many suggest OEM wires as well. I have always used aftermarket wires from Autozone. With the lifetime warranty I have received 2 free sets do far. They don't last the 100,000 mile that the OEMs a suppose to but then again the OEMs don't last that long either...

U can use Autolite AP605 which can be bought at Wall-Mart for about $2.00 each. Have used them of several Auroras and they work just as good as the Delco's. Recommend Delco wires they work good and have lifetime warranty. You will have to replace them every year and half.

Re: Plugs & Wires - Aurora

Thanks. I am going to tackle these myself. I am mechanically inclined. However, I have a few questions.
How do you remove the coil assembly. I looked for the screws but I only saw two on the sides. Are there more? Does anything need to be disconnected from this?
Also, do you need an extended socket for the plugs? The pictures of the wires show the hoods to be very long. If you do need an extended socket, where can they be bought and what length?
Thanks
