Re: Engine noise, possible idler pully serp belt?
It went great, it took about 4-5 hours and it seems to be working fine. I had to drive it around for a while to get the coolant level right. I was unable to drain it completely since I couldn't get the plug out. The only problem was I almost forgot to put the new thermostat in but I realized it before I had started the screws down and put it in. The hardest part was getting the pipe fiting out of the hose on the top of the water pump. I had to take the old water pump to pepboys and they heated it up for me to get the pipe out. Other than that I took my time and followed that website and it went fine. I'm not sure if the tension is too tight on the belt as I estimated a 1/4" deflection based on the length. No noises, no smells etc it's going good and I feel great knowing I did it myself. Thank you guys again for all your help, I couldn't have done it without all your insight, you're great.

Right on...you got it done.
I did mention that you needed a spare car...cause something will always pop up.. Don't worry about the belt tension...because you will be rechecking it and retightening as necessary....since you know how now...[ha...]..right?... Aloha and best regards... |

Yup, it feels great knowing how to do something alittle more in depth than oil and brakes. For some reason the water pump always sounded more complicated than this. Happy Thanksgiving y'all.
