Re: 98-02 Rodeo-Ever had the Timing Belt break?

apparently it was interference
I saw the heads and gaskets, they were battered
I was without my truck for a month

it would have been much cheaper to replace the belt when it was time

I'm paying alot more attention to the book now and the recommendations

She said it was the 3.2L in the original post. Just an ongoing debate, wildly...

Re: 98-02 Rodeo-Ever had the Timing Belt break?

i've got a 99 2.2L and the belt just broke, and i mean it broke - not stripped. i had the t-belt and water pump changed at 101k and i've got 130k now. i guess i should have had the tensioners replaced too...repair shop says no compression, so all? valves are bent. wanted 1600 to fix, or 3000 to put a used engine in. i'm going to try and remove the head myself now because i can't see putting 1600 into a car worth 3000 (well used to be). will take the head off and pray no piston is cracked... i imagine there will be valve marks on the piston(s). i should have bought a car w/ a non-interference engine
