How is that possible? Mine's a '00 GT and it doesn't have it. Kinda pissed too, cause it's impossible to see out the back during Hawaii's torrential downpours every 30 min...
like back in march when it rained torrents for 40+ days straight.

nights too? you didn't build yourself a big boat with room for animals, did you?

i *now* use mobil 1 oil and a "wix" filter which is the bargain good filter. stay away from fram's and housebrands.

mobil 1 filter is one of the best on the market, just not good enough to warrant the cost of the cheaper ones.

*i believe* the rear wiper was an option

Re: Oil Change

I work at Jiffy Lube, I know all about this.

Heres my personal insight.

When you change oil, you:

1. Check to see if the oild is full on the dipstick. (Car off.)
2. Drain the oil, removing the oil filter. (Car off.)
3. Replace Oil Filter. (Car off.)
4. Add oil. (Car off.)
5. Tighten oil caps, then start the car. Let run for about 10 seconds.
5. Shut car off.
6. Check your oil.

Now it should give you a more accurate reading. And if it says its overflowed on the dipstick, then its overflowed. The dip dont lie. My suggestion is drain 1/2 a quart, then check again and go from there.

Re: Oil Change

My 2 cents on making draining overflow a little less messy. I have a FRAM quick drain plug and it is WAY less messy than using the stock bolt. Next time you change your oil swap out the stock plug for a fram one...then if you need to drain a little after you overfilled it, it would be much easier. It takes a little longer to drain the oil because the hole is smaller, but it is worth it to not get oil running down your arm I think.

Re: Oil Change

the guy from jiffy forgot to add, only drain half the oil, and then top the rest off....

bad joke about the jiffy lubes around here b/c supposedly they only change half the oil. at least that's what the employees tell me.

if you don't want to mess up:

ONLY ADD 4 Quarts EVEN! then go from there. 4 quarts should about be perfect though!!

Re: Oil Change

well at our j.lube we drain it all. its pointless not too really.

but when io change my oil i do every bit of it, because when the oild gets old the additives wear out of it.

and sure only draining half would work, but i use mobil 1 synthetic everytime, and drain every bit of the old out.

just to be safe.

its worth the extra few bucks to not have the engine sieze up on you.
