Course he has Quattro so that saps some power and doesnt allow it to scurry as fast as the FWD ones, but in the corners it's heaven.
Anyways, MkIV Jetta's have quality control issues. Had a friend have to go in a month after she got her Jetta to replace the power window motor. Stupid.
W/the MkV's, the quality is definitely up.

um....excuse me but why were you comparing an A4 though they have the same motor they are not the same car, The gearing is different since it is more for luxury and ride quality and not to mention the A4 is a good 100 to 200 pounds heavier than the new GLI. my Jetta is a 2002 1.8t and I havent had any quality issues with the car except for the need to change a hose, but thats how things go and it was only 18 bucks out of my pocket, no biggie. On top of that, when the car was stock I was able to beat the new GLI's by about 1.5-2 car lengths and everyone I've met who has a GLI even the previous models say they like the 1.8t 5 speed better.
Personally the quality of the GLI is nice, but I'm more of a performance orientated guy and I like what I have, I got it for 10k and spent less than $120 for mods so far and I'm very happy with the results, Ive uped the boost to 16 peaking 20 and increased the fuel of my car to go with it.
