Re: Driveshaft removal (sorry for the silly question)

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I finally got it off. I put back the two bolts for the center bearing, then cranked the engine, and drove it for about 1 mile and it was off to the ground. It's amazing. I was driving on slopes, and trying to accelerate fast, but it still took me a long time to get it off. Fortunately, the shaft dropped off just in front of my home on a small slope, so I could coast the car to the parking space.

it brobably would've battered the shaft housing, maybe even snapped the u-joint at the gearbox end. whatever it did it wouldn't be pretty.

Re: Driveshaft removal (sorry for the silly question)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your advice. I've got it done. . I first put back the two bolts for the center bearing, then cranked the engine and drove it for about 1 Mile to got it off. Fortunately, the car stopped right in front of my home on a slope , so I can managed to park it in the parking lot.

Re: Driveshaft removal (sorry for the silly question)

i bet they did, a good way ive seeen, is to put the caps back on losely then set the car down, and move the car back and forth, it seems to work without any carnage, but ive never tried it

Re: Driveshaft removal (sorry for the silly question)

The caps usually always stick but I have never seen a case were steady pressure with a heavy duty screw driver didn't pop it off. Also the best way to tighten and loosen is to have the car in park and the wheels locked up but there is no reason I can think of to have it sitting on the wheels.
