But on topic, I live in San Francisco and I don't know of anywhere that would provide horseback riding lessons. Sounds fun but unfortunately, no opportunity here for me to take advantage of.
Here are the listings from the search I did. http://www.yellowpages.com/sp/yellow...questid=300547

My advice...go around them preferably. My favorite horse is the Mustang. The horse will not tire, doesn't need shoes, or green grass or much water. Spirited but really gentle provided they like you. The biggest horse I've ridden was a red Belgium Draft...he was HUGE!!!
Most of the area where I ride the horses most will go lame from being on trail in a matter of days from the trails.

Re: Went horse-back riding for the first time.

This is why I need to stop forgetting to check AF every day. I completely missed this thread. Falling off, yeah it sucks, but if you ride, it's gonna happen at some point. I stopped counting after, I believe, 7 times. Worst was when I was trying a mare I was looking at buying. Asked her for one last canter, fucker LAUNCHED me into the wall. This wall was all exposed 2x4's on the inside of a sheet metal arena. Not a fun experience.

Getting kicked, sucks a fat dick. Been kicked in the stomach, in the arm, and about 2 inches from my nuts, that one sucked. Anywho, as you may have gathered, I ride, and it's pretty much my life. If anyone would like to see pics of my horse, go to: http://community.webshots.com/user/keymaster4225.

Re: Went horse-back riding for the first time.

When I was a kid I rode all the time. I've gone off the front, back and both sides of horses. I've also been stepped on three times. Twice while putting a saddle on and once when I caught one roaming the grounds at work. A farm I once worked for raised horses and the owner talked me into "breaking" a couple for him. I had no idea what I was in for. It was fun for a couple of seconds. Don't get much chance anymore but I would in a second if given the chance.

I've worked with mare since the day she popped up. I thought breaking her was going to be a disaster, she actually just kind of new what to do as a I did it. Her little brother, was a different story but I had nothing to do with him.

Re: Went horse-back riding for the first time.

My family owns horses and we used to have a really wild mare named Satarah. One day I climbed on her and she TOOK OFF, we had built this little path in the woods by my house and SHE FLEW THROUGH THERE, then she jumped a log which would be the first time I jumped a horse in my life, she turned back around and galloped the opposite way, me yelling "WOH WOH!!!" finally we get out in the open and before she can run us into the fence, she stops on a dime and does a 180 on the grass. I got off and kissed the ground. Horses like to randomly TAKE OFF with me on them, but this was the most memorable experience.

Did I mention Satarah used to be a barrel racer? Well now she's in pasture.
