Re: Bandits back and still in need
any book you get should give you a lot of info on what to do, things like checking ring gap, and how to grind them. be carefull connecting the rods to the crank, to be safe, cut some peices of rubber hose to slide over the threads on the rods, otherwise you could nick the crank journals and mess up the bearings, and the crank. get some plastigage and check all the bearings to make sure there isnt too much play between them and the crank. checking and measuring everything and keeping all your stuff clean is the trick. check end play on the rods and on the crank, use the right lube for the bearings, follow all torqe sequences, and double check everything, again make sure you do it with clean hands and parts, and youll be alright. good luck to you, Im in the middle of doing the same thing with my t/a. take your time

Re: Bandits back and still in need
Minor Set Back....
Welp guys i started the assembly today...when i find out...summit sent me the wrong cam and head assembly... so now i will get the right parts by the end of the week IF they can drop ship it if not it will take 2 to 3 weeks.....dissapointed i decided well then lets start putting the crank in...when i come to relize i ordered the wrong crank....but maybe to my advantage...the one i got is a stroker crank its stroke is a 4.25 (stock stroke is a 4.00) with the stroker crank and my bore that puts my block at a 459 Ci so here is my question...will the pistons i have still work or do you have to get special ones? im sure the connecting rods need to be diffrent...i hope thats it (i needed new connecting rods anywho)...hope you guys can help me out thanks.

Re: Bandits back and still in need
My guess is that they will not work. With just going with what you have I can't say. You'll have to test fit it to see what the deck height is so to make sure the piston doesn't bottom out up in the cyl. head.

Re: Bandits back and still in need
Most people bulding a stroker motor will put clay on the top of piston, put the motor together but not torque down the head (make sure you have your head gasket in there), then rotate the motor by hand twice around, stop if you hit something solid, but see what the clay looks like, it will show you how much valve clearance you have between piston & valves (remember to leave some extra room for the head gasket getting compressed when torqued down). yes at top dead center you can see if the piston comes above the deck level w/out the heads being on there, but also check valve clearance! Im sure someone who builds strokers can tell you what you need.
