Re: Down With Fujimi!

I work in the hobby business, in both the wholesale and retail sides of the business. I've seen a few people make the same mistake, but when you see the Tools set along with the Garage set, it makes perfect sense. Fujimi has used this same packaging for about 20 years now, so I guess not too many people have complained about it. Also, Fujimi kits are not shinkwrapped as they come from Japan, so if the box was sealed it most likely would have been by that particular Hobbytown. (We do not seal them - can't speak for other distrib's) If it was not sealed, then why didn't you inspect it? Japanese kits are not shinkwrapped for the reason that Japanese modelers always inspect their kits at the shop. American modelers RARELY do. I never mind cutting the wrap off for a customer - it takes about 30 secs to re-shrink it, but if they get home and something's missing or the kit wasn't what the thought then they have to drive back and by then they're pissed. I would rather they leave the shop with what they wanted the first time. Wish more folks would ask to see what's in the boxes - I like having an excuse to check kits out on company time!

Re: Down With Fujimi!

I think you should be more worried about HobbyTown USA preying on modelers by marking up a kit like that 20%.

I also assumed they were separate. I guess if you could translate Japanese it would tell you that.

Does this also include Japanese who speak English?
