There is a little bit of room under the rear of the intake for water to get in, then it sits in the lifter valley and leaks down around the plastic plug on top of the knock sensor. Mine was fully of rusty water.

Do you have any other info on changing them? Any pointers or problems that you ran into? I called around tonight and GM is charging 4 hours to do it. thanks
