Re: Lady In the Water?

yeah, so a group of people making a secluded crime-free, trouble-free society to escape the pain of reality plot maybe un-original... but then again, so is the whole College life thing with Van Wilder/Harold and Kumar/Eurotrip, and the whole racism thing with Crash/Green Mile/Mississippi Burning, and the whole crime thing with Snatch/Ocean's Eleven/Blow, and the whole Evil thing with Interview with a Vampire/Underworld/Van Helsing... I guess those directors have lost credibility, too... I'm not knockin ya for not liking the movie, jsut the fact that you think that one movie has made you lost respect for an outstanding director.

Re: Lady In the Water?

Most of the movies you said were books first...wow you need to learn a lot.

And it's not that it's unoriginal, it's copied! The exact story minus the monsters. They used other things before. But college movies are meant to be stupid and simple. Horrow movies suck, i know. Van Helsing is a copy yes. Underworld has been done, but updated lichen/vampire war and added more storyline.

Dont argue with me on plot/story lines on movies. I know what's been done and how. I've had to write scripts and watch tons of movies to make sure it wasnt done before.

Also, its not whether a movie is unorginal, but how's it done. there was nothing great to it except the acting, but that's 'cause he had good actors. And he's not outstanding. it's not like i loved him before that movie. You dont even know what level i had him on so for me to say i lost respect for him, isnt a far drop.

But what i really like was his book adaptation of Stuart Little. He did a good job which books are hard.

i came with w/e movie came to mind in 5 seconds, to make a point. I OWN some of those books, so thank you, i've already been schooled.

like i said, i'm not knockin you for not liking the movie, i don't care much what you feel about the originality of the plotline, the only thing that got me to post was the fact that you said MKS has lost credibility as a good director.

Re: Lady In the Water?

I got nothin against M Knight personally, but I worked at a video rental store during the time when Unbreakable, Signs, and the Village came out. I gave out many free movies during that time as "customer satisfaction" rentals to replace his movies. Well really mainly the Village. By the time I watched the Village a thousand people told me the ending so i couldn't watch it objectively, but overall i wasn't too impressed with it. Signs was good til the lame ass wicked witch of the west water solution which was pretty predictable given the insane number of half full cups of water the little girl left around the house. "Swing away"
