Re: You think changing plugs are bad, try the fuel pump....

I had two carter fuel pumps fail and they were covered under warrenty with the fuel filter changed,by Auto Value.A new fuel filter is part of the warrenty for Carter.A seperate,new set of wiring goes with a carter fuel pump.Airtex also makes fuel pumps for CarQuest and Carquest is dropping Airtex for making their fuel pumps and going to a differant manufacturer.Always change the fuel filter when changing the fuel pump.It is part of the warrenty

True, but a fuel filter doesn't make a fuel pump completely fail.

Yes a fuel filter will make a fuel pump fail.The fuel filter is full of trash and junk that will take out a fuel pump.Read the paperwork with the fuel pump,I will say something about changing the fuel filter part of the warrenty

Personally, I wouldn't consider it very good luck to have two pumps fail.

The kid at the Autozone counter even admited to me that the Carter pumps were garbage after he heard me insist on the Bosch replacement. THey are *not* supposed to say things like that - fer crissakes, it made me respect an Autozone worker. Somewhere in hell now, rests a snowball.

But he wouldn't say anything if you didn't know any better.

Don't give the person too much credit.

Re: You think changing plugs are bad, try the fuel pump....

The kid at AutoZone(really called AutoJunk) is an idiot and does not know what he is talking about.Anything from AutoZone is junk and will replace a whole bunch of times,they sell the cheapest parts.Just put one in Carter fuel pump in a blazer yesterday and it will not fail because it was properly installed with a new fuel filter.One from the dealer is $600.00 if you want to know

For a '97 pump assembly, he's about right for the price from a dealer.
Wolfox's '95 Bosch pump is less than $100.00 from AZ, but the '95/96's mount on a bracket, they're not the contained units with the level sensor attached like the '97s are.

edit;
Forgot to add, To Whoever uses Carter pumps in a '97: No matter what any body says, Carter pumps are CRAP (and I did properly install it. It won't work if it isn't properly installed, it only goes in one way)
