there's also the point that to these groups, they are muslims, no matter what you might say.
We do by preaching the message. Maybe you need to go to search fro Hamza Yusuf Hanson. Hes American Muslim Scholar who talks about the subject alot. Its not like we're sitting on our ass not doing anything. We can only do so much but our main goal is to reach out to ppl to let them know we are about peace. Thats one way of fighting against others who thinks the opposite. I leave it up to you of what you want to believe. Extremists can be define in many terms. I've been called an extremists because I pray ..and thats by another muslim.

you misunderstood me there; i said that to them, they are muslims.
i wasn't singling out them being muslim, i was pointing out that they might not be following islam in your eyes but in theirs, they are.

Re: Three Tennis players shot for wearing Tennis shorts

up to me to believe?
are you making an assumption that you know my beliefs and thoughts on this matter?

are you denying that these people (specifically terrorists) do so in the name of islam?

it seems to me that your get out clause is to say that anyone who commits these crimes aren't muslims when the fact is, if you asked them, they would say that they are. They believe themseves to be muslims and what you say here will not and does not change that.

Excuse me but did I say anything wrong here? Im not convincing you nor am I assuming anything? Relax. Did I say they're not muslims? I dont really recall. They are muslims who are either misguided or just simple criminals. Most of them are Sunnis like me. I've done bad things in my past but I was never denied of my beliefs because of my actions.

how's this?
and for your information, for the most part, i don;t really take into consideration the religious beliefs of terrorists because i know that in most cases, it is just an excuse to justify what they do. For what-ever reason, religion/faith seems to be an easy way to get followers (and hence power) and like it or not, it seems to be much easier to get extremists taking advantage of Islam than other religions.

when's the last time you heard of a mad rampaging murdering buddhist?

not sure if you are aware of this but in the UK, there is a distinct lack of willingness of muslims to openly condemn any of the actions by these people. It might not be their intention but sometimes, we would like to hear a commited stance to be taken by the more known and respected members of your faith which does raise the question of whether or not they actually do condemn them.
sorry for the rhetoric but that's part of the problem.

even if you do speak out against the terrorists, it isn't enough.

Im not sure if you heard the Tamil Tigers? They labeled them a terrorists group and are buddhists. May 27th is the last time they've attacked in Sri Lanka.

Like I said theres only so much we can do. Otherwise its in the Almighty's hand. The terrorists hurt our image of Islam and we are trying to inform the public saying this is not what we're about. Its like a tug of war if you want to look at it that way. Muslim countries do take action if they cause harm to there people. Egypt jailed an Imam who planned to attack anyone whos not muslim back in the 70s I believe. I just saw a program last year him speaking saying he didn't know what he was thinking and he was deeply ashamed of himself. I really forgot his name but I will try to find out. A group of insurgents in Iraq arrested terrorists that wasn't too long ago either. Theres alot of good things you just dont hear about. Media loves terrorists. They give them good stories to talk about.

Because they're getting tired of it. We shouldn't feel guilty for other ppl's actions.Im not sure if you have any muslim friends and if you do ..ask them what they think? Im sure there views aren't much different from mine. Its overwhelming...problems are everywhere. You dont really need us to condemn every problem thats out there. If we keep condeming and condeming...ppl are eventually goin to get sick of hearing it. You also dont need to apologize for anything. Its not like we're insulting each other. We're just having a discussion.

on the part where I said they do not follow Islam...i forgot to add correctly.

I understand completely, you seem to have no idea of the meaning of the words "Rational", and "Logical".

You are apt at saying one thing then claiming something else, and like to use sentances with vague meanings open to different interprations.

And whats worse is you seem to think you are right, yet you lack the reasoning skills to show it.

Now go back and have a good read of this thread, do it with an open and an objective mind, and try and understand what is being said, and try and gain an outsiders understanding of the islamic world.

And be very careful about how you reply to people, especialy people much older and wiser than you are.

Re: Three Tennis players shot for wearing Tennis shorts

This thread is done.

This is precisely the reason we don't have a religion forum (which has been requested before.)

Everyone believes differently, yes? Good, then instead of everyone basing an opinion on what the media tells you or what stereotypes tell you or what random incidents tell you, learn for youself about that religion, whether it be christianity, buddhism, islam, shintoism or what.
