Re: A sports writer nails it right on the head

Hey, if those guys want to kill themselves with performance enhancing meds, let them do it. Just don't pretend they're doing it all with their own raw talent.

Unfair advantage in war? Are you on drugs? The object of war is to kill the other guy. Period. As for superior weaponry, the guy with the best toys wins.

The object in a sports competition is to win just as in war. War has rules just like a sports competition. Saying the point of war is to kill the other guy does not make it not a competition. That would be like saying the object of baseball is to hit the ball, therefore it isn't a competion. Obviously war and sports have different aspects, but that doesn't mean that they aren't similar on a basic level.

And saying something that isn't conventional doesn't mean that person is crazy or on drugs. Every influential person in history, every single person that did something extraodinary, was unconventional. That's why the word is extra-ordinary.

Well if you don't like the war anology how about hunting. Hunting is a competition in which one side has a HUGE unfair advantage. Where are all the people protesting how the hunter is cheating? If you don't automatically dismiss this you'll see that it's true.

Let's change the rules of competition for all sports.

The winning team gets to eat the losers. Now THAT would make for some good TV.

No, better yet; the winning team gets to blow up the losing team, with whatever superior weaponry they so choose.

OK, now your analogies make more sense.
