Re: Progress: Porsche Carrera GT
Finished polishing the body although it still needs a wax. Black is both great and frustrating to work with. Great because the shine is just like a mirror, frustrating because it shows every scratch, piece of dust and fingerprint!
Anyway the first shot is a self portrait of sorts, then my son wandered along! ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by RallyRaider; 04-13-2007 at 04:52 AM. |

Re: Progress: Porsche Carrera GT
There's someone's face spoiling the finish in the first picture, you think you'll be able to rub that imperfection out?
![]() You're certainly right about black, very frustrating, but also very satisfying if you manage to get it right. And you certainly have.

Re: Progress: Porsche Carrera GT
Wow you could hang that from the wall and use as a mirror. Awesome job.

Re: Progress: Porsche Carrera GT
How a family portrait! Yes just a mirror shine.
I found out some helps, lately, with an autmotive wax, the kind that you spread on and after few minutes become to be a solid white crap, after that you polish it and... miracle the white crap come to glossy transparent and the microscratch're filled. I cover it with a Tamy wax: I noticed that the glossy effect isn't constant in the time and the shine tend to decrease after few monts, better with last pass of Tamy. BTW I'm ever still waiting for a definitive anti-static solution: my waxed stuff got dust also in a sealed box: mystere.

![]() ![]() That's got to be the ultimate black paint job. We always ask (as in this thread) about the clear used but I am more and more convinced it has less to do with the materials used and more to do with the skill and patience applied - I am sure that was the case here. All the FAQs and all the Tutorials and all the threads in all the world just won't replace apporoching the task with care, patience and an uncompromising approach - I jealously raise my hat to you, Phil ![]()
