good kill, so who here has seen the mazda kabura or something like that? its a concept and some people are saying it might be the next rx-7

ive seen it, its gonna be a fun car, but its not rotary and the engine design is off the MX-3, but the body looks like a rx-7 and 8 combined

yeah the engine isnt rotary right now, but they made sure when they designed it that a rotary would fit...

Yeah a rotary would fit but rotary engine swaps are expensive compared to tuning the 2.0 thats gonna be put in it

thats not what i meant, i meant they might change the engine thats in it if they decide to produce it, and they might call it an rx-7

Actually it's the other way around, They were going to call it the RX-7 and they had a rotary in it but they wanted to keep the RX-8 as their flagship so they took out the Rotary and put in the 2.0 turbo. They canned the RX-7 revival a while back and decided to upgrade the RX-8 with either a supercharger or a turbo setup.

is this recent news? i think it would be good if they turboed the RX-8, thats what its needed all along. i got what i was saying from this months R&T tho, so i figured it was pretty up to date stuff. i guess i should clarify, no one from mazda said it could be the RX-7 revival. that came from other people, like the cars designer

Mazda said that sometime withing the next 6 months to a year they should be upgrading the RX-8 so we will see when it comes

I havent heard anything from mazda about them upgrading the rx-8. My girlfriend works at a mazda dealership and they havent said anything about it. Im pretty cool with the owner mr morton and he hasnt heard a word of it either. Where you getting this info from?

Car and driver said they were expected changes in febuary but it was pushed back
