Re: srt4 vs cobalt ss vs rsx-s vs celica gts

the celica is not slow. its just as fast as the rsx and cobalt plus i think it is the best looking. but true toyota is slacking off its all been downhill since the the death of the supra and stopping the gt4 from coming to america. but hopefully they have a new car in the making.

Yeah...Supra was toyotas landmark supercar...I hear that there thinking about putting a V8 in the new one.If so thats fuckin retarted.Sure more displacement but there getting inn to...well deep.. I mean when a japanese car needs to be faster, they find a way to make smarter power. But us americans just slap a bigger engine in, whats the fun in that? Pretty soon if you wanna contend with the big boys your gonna have to have a v8..that sucks..

uhhhm well the fun in putting in a bigger engine would be to make the car faster... but as to the econobox/rocket cars i says the srt-4, sure it's got a crappy interior but it goes fast and it has a turbocharger.

Re: srt4 vs cobalt ss vs rsx-s vs celica gts

yea the new "supra" is said to have a 300hp v6 base model and a 350hp v8 in the high end model. i just say bring the inline 6 2jzgte and tweak it a little for over 350hp easy. the 2jz was one of the best motors invented ever. if you can get 1300+ whp out of a 3 liter you know you have a good engine. theres supposedly a new toyota/lexus supercar coming out witha v10 in the 100k dollar range.

I agree that the Celica is not slow, but it's not as fast the RSX-S and certainly not the Cobalt SS.

Re: srt4 vs cobalt ss vs rsx-s vs celica gts

celica- 180hp 2500lbs
rsx-s - 210hp 2900lbs
cobalt-200hp 2800jbs

there pretty much all even in not sure exactly what the other 2 run but ive seen a stock gts run a 14.7 in the quarter and im sure the other two are not far ahead.

I've never heard of a stock GT-S running 14s, in fact the lowest printed numbers from a reliable source I've seen are 15.2. The RSX-S runs right around 14.7, and the Cobalt which is making more than the advertised 205hp (I have dyno sheets to prove this), runs right around 14.4.

Re: srt4 vs cobalt ss vs rsx-s vs celica gts

it takes a good driver and the reason that the magazines cant get it is because theyu are not allowed to go past redline, if you go past redline abit youll get into more power. it really peaks at about 190hp if you take it a smidge past redline. vip09 in the celica forums pulled a 14.78 on his stock gts. the year makes a diffrence as well cause on some of the years the rev limiter is lower and other small things. the 2000-2001 are the fastest models. those cobalts are faster than i thought though.

There is someone on the board here who visits the street racing section every once in a while who ran 14.7 on a stock celica.

That RSX-S ran 14.3 with just a CAI

Re: srt4 vs cobalt ss vs rsx-s vs celica gts

14.7 doesn't sound unrealistic as the way way slower MR2 Spyder does it in 15.6

I don't know about the GT-S as my own one is the T-Sport version and there's a difference

GT-S
180 bhp @ 7600rpm
0-60mph 6.6 sec

T-Sport
192 bhp @ 7800rpm
0-62mph 7.3 sec (60-62mph means a gear change from 2nd to 3rd gear)

The Celica VVTL-i engine has also the most power at the least fuel in the whole world without a supercharger.
