Aveo Gear Shift

The forums have been searched and I can't find a answer to my issue. I just bought a 2004 Chevy Aveo. I wanted to change out the gear shift. There is a little silver piece that unscrews half way. I turned it some more and it came down as well as a broken piece of plastic (assuming it is part of the gear shift.) I looked and couldn't find screw holes of any kind. I put it back together (Thankfully.) Came inside and searched to find out if there is a way to take this thing off. Unfortunatly searching got me know where fast, so I came here and maybe someone could help me out. It's a automatic gear shift if that helps.

I was reading my post and It didn't make damn sense. The question I am really trying to ask is, has anyone changed out there gear shift in a automatic 2004 Chevy Aveo? If so how?

Re: Aveo Gear Shift

Well after blood, sweat, and Tears. I got the gear shift off and replaced it with a nice carbon fiber gear shifter. I will try to post pictures tommorow.
