And by all means DO keep bringing the suggestions, it's just I'm tired of being criticized just because I don't know WTF the current record holder is, and because I've never heard a system that exceeds MAYBE 140 decibals.

Re: Want advice

DON'T LAUGH, but I'm driving a 1990 Buick Century (until I flip it) so what do you think I can do with this car besides push it into a river? Money hasn't really been a thought of mine YET but I'm willing to spend like up to 1500 on just subs and then about that on amps.

Re: Want advice

I can't talk from experience unfortunatly, but I hear the 20.1 from Inciminator is an awsome amp, NG can comment on that one. Get get a single sub that is ungodly loud, APXX, MT, Death Penalty, or somthing along those lines.

Re: Want advice

cars with trunks are more difficult than hatchback styles or truck cabs to get lots of bass out of. But the rules are the same ..... as some of the guys have pointed out. Concentrate on 2 high quality subs of the same make and model that are 15" or more, amp(s) that can provide at least 1000 (real) watts RMS per sub and a fair sized alternator to power it. Do NOT skimp on power/ground wire size - use 2 Ga or even 1/0 gauge, install the "big 3" - do a search on it to see what it is. Don't bother with caps, they do nothing for a bass system. Extra batteries are only for car off listening time, don't get a spare battery until you have the rest of the system pumping like you want it.

When installing it, a ported box will give you more output in the lower frequencies around the port frequency but typically at the expense of some sound quality. You will need to make "passages" from the trunk to the passenger compartment. Lastly you will have to play with the positioning of the box for the greatest output, usually in a trunk mounted box that ends up being with the back of the box pushed up almost all the way to the back of the back seat and facing the speakers to the rear of the car. Just a few thoughts to get you going.

180db's I believe. The highest possible sound pressure in the earth's athmosphere is about a 190.

Stoner..... How big's the trunk in it. My vote would be for two loud 15's...... Hmmm 2 Sound Splinter RL-s 15's and a Collossus (I know its hifonics, but the XX line is good unlike the rest.) Think you can get 12 cubes net from that trunk? MINIMUM

do you have any experience with those? i heard theyre fairly loud but theyre more liek HT SQ woofers than anything else.. dotn get me wrong im sure they still wang but i thought they pretty much belonged in huugge sealed boxes with a shitton of power.

enter the collossus.. and yeah youre right the xx amps are nice but how come youre hatin on the lower lines? didnt you run hifonics amps for a while? ive had a couple and never really had problems with them.. they may be overrated a little.. but did you have any problems with yours?

im just kinda curious why you went that route vs. suggesting a couple MT 15s with even more power (or 12s depending on the size avail.)

Re: Want advice

Its pretty much the same as my hoopdie, buick regal. Trunk is huge you could fit 3 bodies in the back, havent tried but im sure its possible. 2-15's with about 3.5cuft would be possible any larger and you might have some problems with fitment as far as enclosure go.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.
