Odd, because in every magazine i have, they rant and rave about how much space there is for a sports car. It can seat 4 adults comfortably.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTW: the interiors on the rx-8's look awesome in the two tone leather!

don't kill the messenger, thats just what i heard on the top gear thing.
well what was accually said is that "there is room for your 2.2 kids". so probably not suitable for adults.

Re: buying new car narrowed choice to 4

you kno what i heard? as far as straight line performance goes rx-8's suck, and as far as drag racing goes, they are not built for any abuse on the driveline since it was inteded as more of a handling/ track car, so any hard launches off the stock driveline is more likely to end in a broken component

and did i mention that its something like 230 or so at the crank which is roughly 200whp... not very impressive really

Re: buying new car narrowed choice to 4

You do understand that the motor is the size of your fist right? 1.3 liter, 2 cylinder rotary...for an NA car, thats pretty good. Our car isnt even doing that and the motor has 4 more cyliders and way more displacement...lol

They redline at over 9,000RPM! its an N/A car w/ a 1.3 liter engine!! (i know, its already been said). If you put your car at 9krpm, the engine would blow. just throwin it out there. and yes, it really depends on what kinda car this guy wants, because they all have their strong and weak points.

Off the line its f@kin fast. as for driveline abuse we have people here who drift them a on nnothing more thatn upgradee suspention intake and exhaust.
As for launching hard, if you know how to drive stick corectly you shouldnt be puting alot of stress on the driveline.

Re: buying new car narrowed choice to 4

sorry guys i'm un impressed with the newest generation of rx's

they could have done so much better

and it could be argued it is a 2.6l

I'd rather not have to dip that much into my powerband to get the same or similar performance as i would get off a GTO that only uses 2/3 of that power band

9000 rpm woo, so does the honda prelude and the civic SI's, Type-R's and GSR's get close, its nothing more than building a balanced engine which is easier to do with a rotary

if my engine was balanced enough and the drivetrain build to handle it, any car can do 9,000 rpm. it just depends on how much you need it, which i don't since i have torque pulling my ass around town. you don't need high revving motors with a reasonable amount of torque in a daily driven atmosphere.

Higher rpm motors are the replacement for torque, since the car can't get there in a reasonable powerband, it must make up for it with a larger one.
To me it might as well be an S2000 with the absence of torque, high revving motor and rear wheel drive. S2000's are pretty alright, but i'd rather have something with more balls or something being blown.

That and if i remember correctly the rx-8 is not the most fuel efficient car around.

They would have done better just re-vamping the FC motor or an FD all - around, those were very impressive cars and the rx-8 just doesn't match up.

I guess maybe i just have a prejudice against the rx-8, but i've never heard any good things about them.

and i'm just saying the parts are more likely to be broken when launched, not drifting as much since its not an initial shock like some people do with their cars off the line

Re: buying new car narrowed choice to 4
