Re: valve cover remove,instructions

I'm not trying to insult anyone where.

But this is the simplest thing in the entire world. If you have a hard time taking off a valve cover you just need to never work on cars ever again.

Re: valve cover remove,instructions

i couldn't get the bolt off my valve cover so it took me 2 hours to just get it off, then a piece of pipe then me and my father. Some asshole before me seems like he ran everything on this new car with an air gun at high pressure.

I don't have an air gun so it's hard for me to do. I went to change brakes yesterday on my rear wheels and had to take them to a shop just to loosen the lugs, they struggled with their air gun.

I wish owners understood the idea of torquing (sp?) properly

I wasn't being a jerk. I was simply stating that this is a very simple thing. A few bolts and it's off.

Even before I ever worked on a car I knew how to use a ratchet and take off bolts.

I see this as the equivalent as asking how to do an oil change.

I see it to being easier than that. You don't have to get underneath the car. It's probably just as easy as removing the battery.

dude. I wasn't being an ass, and like I said I wasn't trying to offend you.

And also this was my first time doing an engine swap. I don't consider myself the greatest mechanic, but a valve cover is a very routine job. I'm glad you got the help you needed but I was just stating my opinion.

That is all.

Well there are some hard lines that run directly over the top of the stock uicp bolts on the '99s. I didn't know what the lines were at the time so I didn't want to bend or kink them. So it took me like 3 hours to slowly try and move them a cm, then somehow try to loosen the bolts a bit. I also couldn't get the rubber "s pipe" off the throttle body elbow for the life of me. That thing would not budge. I pulled on that thing so hard the whole car rocked. I tried sticking a screwdriver under it and prying it off which made a little progress. So after an hour or 2 of that it came off.

It doesn't help either that I usually never have anyone to help me.

I had the same problem as nova on my old car. When I tried to change the oil the drain plug would not budge whatsoever. I ended up rounding the bolt and had to take it to a shop. It was tightened down WAY too much.
