'01 GTI VR6 Interior Weather Strip Problem

I am new to this forum and hope someone here may be able to help me with an annoying issue. The interior trim weather stripping has come off on both sides. The first strip came down during a very hot period when the car was sitting in the parking lot at work. I figured I'd just get it fixed - no biggie. Took longer than I thought - order parts, procrastination, yada yada - so the other side then fell off in similar conditions about 6-8 mos. later. Now I'm thinking hmmm, this sounds like a defect, not a random event. VW refuses to assist with cost of repair because of the age of the vehicle. Anyone else with this problem? Thanks for any input!!

Re: '01 GTI VR6 Interior Weather Strip Problem

depending on the climate (very hot aka texas ect...) the weather stripping can come loose. Its held on by friction and glue. when it gets hot out the glue problably turns liquidy and stripping comes loose. i'vw seen this happen to cars in MN.. and it doesnt get that hot here, just humid in summer
