Wow, alot changed with me since 2 days before 9/11 !

Seems like ages ago I joined AF and didn't have a logo !

So, like I said - things changed. I've become the owner of a used Y2K LS, a Black V8 Sport.

Slow? Yes - unfortunately. I had it at the track last night (cool air, 900ft elevation), and only got 16.5 in the 1/4. Fast? Nope!

However, take it into the corners - a curve that my XR7 can't hold 70kph on, the Lincoln takes at over 100 and probably could have gone faster. But, I drive within MY limits, not my car's.

Despite the Linc being slow and resembling a BMW, it gets alot of looks, is very well built, reliable, soaks up bumps well, handles great, and is very nice to drive.

I was comparing the car to others like it. Its quick is a better word for the large sport sedan. Does anyone know the curb weight of the car?

About 4000 lbs.

The '03 (280 HP) has a listed 0-60 of 6.4 seconds. My '00 can probably do it in 7 or less (never clocked it). It's not a drag car, It's a touring car. You want a drag racer? Buy one. Then you can complain about how noisy and uncomfortable it is to drive on long trips....and about how much gas it uses to get you from home to work.

Back on topic...
I love the way the LS looks. It's understated and subtle design is beautiful. I like driving a "sleeper". If I wanted something loud, tasteless, and obnoxious, I'd have bought a CTS.

I especially like the front quarter of the car. The slim front fender and long wheelbase combine to create a substantial look without seeming bloated.

I like the 2001 style, not the newest style, especially i like the 2001 LS V8 Sport with those chrome 5-spoke wheels

The mark's could run the 0-60 time of under 6.
There is no way that an Mark could keep up with an LS on a autocross track. The mark might have straight line acceleration advantage (which I doubt, the Mark 8 had 180 hp and the LS has 285 hp and I have to believe the LS weighs alot less). The Mark was built on the old Tbird body. The LS is on a new body that has 50/50 weight distribution. The LS is faster on a AC coarse than the Bimmer 5 series. Are you saying that a mark 8 can do that. I dont't think so. Especially not a Mark 7. I raced a BMW 330 with my old LS 6 and I beat it until we let off at about 60 mph. That is pretty sporty. I have not been in a Mark 8 for about 8 years, but I would love to run one in my LS 8.

Re: poll:do you like how it looks?

I agree that a LS would stomp a Mark in the corners, but the Marks with the 4.6 were beasts. I don't have the numbers but they could be easily be worked into the 300+ hp range.

Re: poll:do you like how it looks?

Hey Chris, what's up man? Kevin from LLSOC here.

Again, alot of time has passes since I first got my used Lincoln and posted here.

She's faster now, due to a computer change, and a much needed thorough tune-up. But still not a drag racer, huh ?

Mark 8 vs LS? Straight line, the Mark 8 wins. They're a 14 second car in the 1/4, OK? LS is at best - low 15's.

Twisties - LS all the way.

Re: poll:do you like how it looks?

Hi Kevin! I thought I was the only one in here! That's a real nice picture, BTW. Great angle, treatment, and LOVE the grill! Too bad about the front plate...I've got one, too.

Thumbs up Re: poll:do you like how it looks?

A friend described the Lincoln LS as "matronly." I agree. The lines are a little boxy without a hint of sportiness in my opinion. Looks aside, I love my '2004 LS for it's handling properties. It handles the twisties like it was on rails. I only hope that it provide long term reliability.
