Re: Took TB off - Checked Sensors - Partial Results
Yea, I do have to agree Bill....you have been a lot of fun here. Me on the other hand, have had a bit of fun. I bought this car of mine and was intending on buying a rebuilder for some long term commuting and I end up with a Geo Metro that uses as much gas as my 1993 Nissan Hardbody......of course, a truck with an engine one and a half times bigger than the metro engine. LOL I have replaced all my sensors, including the injector, so at least the car will have a very small chance of puking out on me, in high desert. I saved all my old parts, so I'll have a back up, for when something dies, down the road.
It's a comfortable ride and for 180k, I'm impressed on how well it handles and how well it runs. It's now DEQ compliant, since I had a new cat put in this week. The old one was broke and completely empty. I thought that was weird. I do have a little mistery knob in my console, just behind my gear selector. It's just a little black knob. It pulls out a little bit and that's it. Hmmmm......I wonder if it's a seat ejector that sends me to the moon. If it is, I hope it's malfunctioning. LOL...... |

Re: Took TB off - Checked Sensors - Partial Results
Well....onward with The Neverending Story.
Today I went to 'B & B Hobby' here in Spokane (most fascinating place!) and purchased a bottle of "CA UnCure" cyanoacrylate de-bonder. In other words - Instand Glue Dissolver. I am trying that on the screwed up TB Top Half to see if I can remove those pesky screw portions. More later..... I also went to the So Called Hardware Store and bought some Metric Screws to replace the ones I took out of the FPR Top. I bought some hex head metrics - M4-.7 mm x 12 mm long. In little plastic packages like a dime store! Even LOWE's and Home-Depot stopped selling screws in bins. We will be very lucky if we can find ANY screws for sale in a few years. The damned bean counters are F**king up the World! I carb cleaned my good TB Top Half and replaced the FPR Diaphragm. I put the original lock washers on the screws, oiled the ends, and put the top back on. That spring in there sure is strong! Here is what it looks like now: ![]() Sure wish those two phillips head screws would come out of the Injector cover easily....! I'd have a look-see of the injector. I switched from "Torx" screws to hex head as there is less to get "boogered up" when removing them later. Stronger. Stronger is better..... More horsepower! So, soon I will put the TB Top back on the car and fire the bastard up. Have a look at the Thread titled "Important Update" I fingered out which ports in the above photo are IN and OUT there. I also partially fingered out just where the gasoline goes in its odyssey from the tank back to the tank. I don't understand what the top half of the FPR is for - it connects to the Intake manifold where there is vacuum. (?) I shall endeavor to persevere. Onward! DoctorBill Any day you wake up in the morning is a good day!
