Autozone lists recall but can't get the info
I googled tsb for my 97 Lesabre. I came to the autozone website. It lists a recall on the upper intake on the 97. I don't have access to the info details on the page . If there is a recall, does that mean I can get my plastic intake fixed for free? How does a GM Recall work? Does anyone have more information I was not able to get? Thank you, Chris.

Re: Autozone lists recall but can't get the info
There is no recall, a TSB is for information how to correct a condition for mechanics and the general repair industry to refer to, we all wish there was a recall for this condition. Recalls are usually limited to safety issues only.

When I went to TSBs, it has two lists. One says TSB and the other says "recalls."
I guess only in America a "Recalls" isn't a recall. With Japanese cars, a "Recall' is a recall. |

If you know the actual name of the TSB I may be able to find out what it says.

Re: Autozone lists recall but can't get the info
If it was listed as a recall rather than a TSB, you should be able to access the content of the recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm. Enter the make, model, and year of your car and get the recall listings. You can have a copy mailed to you at a cost, or open the electronic format for no charge.
If you want a copy of all related TSBs and Recalls for your car, you can register at www.alldatadiy.com, sign up for a one-year membership for $25, and get the full service manual, labor rates, TSBs, and recalls. -Rod |

Safety Recalls TSB Number & Issue Date TSB Title 97-C-02 JUN 96 Recall - Upper Intake Manifold Fractures (FYI, The 1997 Model came out the first part of 96. That's why under 97 it says JUN 96). |

Re: Autozone lists recall but can't get the info
Wait a minute; we went from a "TSB" issued for a leaking (coolant) upper intake, to a "recall" for the Delphi fuel pressure regulator, that could cause an explosion of the upper intake. "Apples and Oranges", not the same thing!! The first is a "TSB" and the second is a "recall". Also if you look at all the information on the “recall” for the fuel pressure regulator, it includes many makes and models with the same Delphi regulator, up to year 2000!
Happydog, do you have a coolant leak in the manifold, or do you just have a fear of an explosion? If you have the coolant leak, GM accepts no responsibility for that, however, if you have the Delphi fuel pressure regulator and your VIN is covered under the recall, you might still get some help!

No, I was looking on a web site TSB's for my car. The top two where under "Recalls." I thought GM never recalled the upper intakes, so I thought I might post here what "Recall" means. The "Recall" says for a cracked intake. Didn't know anything about a fire from the PCM.
I have a little bit of coolant leaking. Not much but I was told it leaks exterior first, then interior. I don't want a hydro lock. Not sure if it's coming from the intake but not sure where else it could be coming from. If this is a problem, I should fix it. Better to do it when I want to then to be stuck on the road somewhere. Wish it would of went out when my did had the car before I bought it. I was lucky that a sensor went out about a week before I bought it. It cost $500+ to fix. It was on top of the gas tank. |

Re: Autozone lists recall but can't get the info
If you just have a small external leak, try about a half bottle of BarLeak "gold liquid", in the radiator and see what happens. They put stopleak in the radiator at the factory, however when people flush their radiator to add new coolant, they usually don't add stop leak.
The link below, is a recent post of a real life story, about what can happen with a leaking Delphi fuel pressure regulator, that was listed as a "recall". http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=502147
