Re: putting an rb26 motor in a 93 240sx

lightnings are pieces (no offense) all there good for is towing stuff (and not that good at that either) i raced 2 of them at my local track, and one had a 10lb pulley on the S/C, and he beat me by .01 of a second (i was sleeping at the light, otherwise i would have had him) at this time my car didnt have the kaaz, or some of my other newer mods.

Re: putting an rb26 motor in a 93 240sx

yes there is a 700+ hp lightning around here...thats off the spray mind you. And he got pwnd by a 400rwhp mr-2. There too big and bulky. Not saying they cant be fast as fuck, but you have to get your priorities straight. If you can afford both well then keep the truck. It sounds like you like it alot.

what i ment by the same potential of the 25-26 is that for a street tune 7-800 hp is a ok amount to reach with either. Not saying he was going to make an all out tube chassis drag car.....

26 swaps are fun, we just finsihed one at our shop, twin HKS 2530's, Twin Z32 Maf's, Monster FMIC, using a modified 26 tranny, into a stripped S13, it's a beast. 26's are big motors, and a very tight fit, especially if you want to retain the twins, and even more of a pain if you have upgraded turbos, the downpipe is no fun. The 26 with the modded 26 tranny is a tighter fit than using the 25 tranny, so I don't reccomend it unless you can't find a 25 tranny. Other than that, it's just like any other swap, just depends on how much you want to put into it, and what you want.

Theres the link to alot of the pics from our install, not completely finished, still needs a little tidying up.

Re: putting an rb26 motor in a 93 240sx

how did you get the AWD RB26 tranny to work in the 240? Or is that the 'modified' part?

Re: putting an rb26 motor in a 93 240sx

The Front output was cut off the tranny, and weldded, and a custom driveshaft was needed. Haven't gotten to the dyno yet, but we're hoping for 500.

Its cool that you used the rb26 transmission but I was woundering what the preformance benefits are of it? I mean I thought that it was just too much work to be worth it. Could someone enlighten me on the differences between the rb25 and rb26 transmissions? thanx.

Re: putting an rb26 motor in a 93 240sx

From our understanding the 26 is the same as the 25, just bulkier. I would use a 25 tranny, the 26 isn't worth the trouble, and its a tight fit.

Re: putting an rb26 motor in a 93 240sx

GT-R tranny is only 6-speed in the R34.
